Product details

The Scientific Anglers Absolute Trout Tippet is a copolymer tippet material that trout fly anglers would use. This material is designed to reduce water absorption to maintain suppleness and knot integrity. This tippet is available in sizes 0X-7X with half sizes from 4.5X- 6.5X in 30-meter spools.

Key Features:

  • Increased Wet Knot Strength – The overall strength of knots tied in this material is up to 40% stronger than other materials.
  • Silicon Band – A silicone band around the tippet spool helps block UV light waves to prevent tippet breakdown.
  • Cutter Spool Design – The spool has a built-in line cutter to make adding tippet an easier process.

As you change flies and lose some of your taper, you will add this to extend the leader's life. This is one size smaller than your leader. Because presentation is paramount here, shrinking down on your tippet isn't a bad idea. Creating a stealthy taper on your existing leader so not to disturb the surface tension and spook the trout.
