The Curated Take

This line is an excellent choice for trout anglers that want a line that is capable of tossing dries, nymphs and medium to small streamers but don't want the noise generated when casting a textured line. This is an all-purpose trout line that floats well and features a tri-color line that helps gauge casting distance. I've used this specific taper for years because it fits my casting style and majority of my time on the water is spent casting dries and nymphs to trout on my local rivers. In general, Scientific Anglers fly line is the most durable fly line I've used, which makes it easier for me to justify spending close to $100 on fly line.

Pros
  • Excellent taper for targeting trout, specifically with dries and nymphs.
  • It uses Scientific Anglers' AST+ dry-slick additive which is built in throughout the line. This improves shooting ability resulting in longer casts with less effort.
  • The taper is great and allows for nice presentations even when longer leader and tippet are used.
Cons
  • The line float well, but for even more floatability consider Scientific Anglers' textured lines.
  • This line is not a good choice if fishing large streamers.
