The Orvis Gel Spun Backing is an alternative to Dacron backing for anglers chasing large fish and needing backing that is strong, has no stretch and retains strength when wet. This yellow backing comes in multiple sizes (30 lb, 50 lb) and lengths (250 yards, 500 yards, 1000 yards) for a range of reels and fishing needs. Key Features:
- Strong – This gel spun polyethylene backing is 10x stronger than steel. It has no stretch and retains 100% of its strength when wet. It also is unaffected by the elements (UV, gas, oils, salt).
- Better than Dacron – Gel spun is better than Dacron when fishing for large fish where getting into the backing is expected. 30 lb gel spun backing increases capacity 60% compared to the standard 20 lb Dacron backing.
- Multiple Sizes/Lengths – By coming in a variety of lengths and sizes, anglers can choose the best size and amount needed for the species being targeted or buy a longer length to spool multiple reels.
