These goggles are great for newcomers to the sport looking for an affordable and reliable eyewear solution with some of the key features of higher-end goggles. Smith sets the standard for helmet-goggle compatibility and these goggles are no exception. I've worn them with both the Vantage and the Maze with minimal fogging issues save for one day of pouring rain. They're not the most durable goggles, but considering the price point, they meet, if not exceed expectations. After about 35 days on the hill, the band shows zero signs of wear or fading, but the lens has sustained a few major scratches and after getting the chairlift restraining bar closed on them (and subsequently my head) the frame cracked, though they are still usable and the lens has stayed in place.
Ideal for
- Continuous silicone strip on the inside of the band keeps goggles in place.
- Superior compatibility with all Smith helmets.
- Comfortable, wicking microfiber and foam absorbs sweat.
Not ideal for
- Frame cracks easily with impact.
- Lenses not easily interchangeable.
- Small for a "large fit" goggle.
The Smith Range Goggles are a no-frills goggle designed to look good and work well. They are designed with a large frame fit and seal well around the whole goggle thanks to the multi-layer face foam.
Key Features:
- Spherical Carbonic Lens – A curved lens designed to maximize peripheral vision while also cutting down on distortion is standard in the I/O series goggles.
- Helmet Compatibility – The design of the frame will integrate with helmets to eliminate the gap between goggle and helmet.
- Tapered Lens Technology – This lens technology is designed to eliminate visible light distortion as it comes through the lens. It delivers light directly to the eye, resulting in a clearer view through the lens on snow.
