The Curated Take
I had a pretty long list of skis I wanted to demo, and the Salomon Stance was not on that list. I hadn't seen much written about this ski, so it was easy to overlook. One day, as I was perusing the demo rack, a shop associate suggested I give them a try, explaining that they're a really underrated ski. I took them out semi-reluctantly, but by my fourth run, I was hooked. They totally took me by surprise, and I added them to my quiver.
The Stance is a great ski for an aggressive, advanced-intermediate, and expert skier. I love hard-charging, and these skis truly excel at stability at speed and have a great edge to edge hold. Additionally, I feel confident charging through the crud, and while it doesn't have the best marks for flotation - it still does decently well in powder. The ski also feels and skis lighter than it is. While I wouldn't outright describe the Stance as a "playful" ski, it is not a dead feeling either. It's versatile, responsive, and dynamic.
I do wish the top sheet was a little more exciting, and the top coating does chip easier than some other skis I own, but for a no-frills ski that you know will get the job done - you can't go wrong with the Stance.
- Stability at Speed
- Crud Performance
- Great Edge Hold
- Not the most playful
