The 2021 Apex 21 irons deliver an extraordinary level of forged performance and craftsmanship, more than anything Callaway has previously produced. They're the first forged iron designed with Artificial Intelligence for faster ball speeds and improved spin consistency. Increased forgiveness comes from the Tungsten Energy Core and enhanced shaping for better turf interaction.
It's pretty much excellent at everything. The AI used to design the Flash Face on this means that there really isn't any club that's had the amount of research put into it that Callaway has right now and the forgiveness on off center hits shows. Also, with the forged clubhead, it feels fantastic when you strike a ball.
The Apex places tungsten weights on the heel and toe of the club as well as flash face technology. This will lead to higher ball speeds and increased spin. Callaway positioned the CG (Center of Gravity) so you get that higher launch and more forgiveness on off center shots. You can really feel the shots you hit, similar to what people say about the AP lines from Titleist.
If you're looking to prioritize looks, workability of the iron, and wanting to try out a new brand, these would be the best choice for you. They would have a comparable top line and workability to the T200's and AP3's.
Callaway's Apex iron's have 'player iron' looks but has a ton of forgiveness because of how they were able to drop the center of gravity (CG) drastically through they're weighting system; a lower CG allows more weight displacement on the sole of the club, allowing for less loss of ball speed when hitting off center strikes.
