I have owned this club for over 2 years, and I consider it one of my favorites. I use it from the tee more often that I hit my driver. The powerful launch angle, exceptional distance, and spin control allows me to shape and execute the shot I want in the moment without sacrificing too much distance compared to a driver. Playing from the fairway can be tricky and you will experience less forgiveness than off the tee, but with practice you will find this club is a versatile club that will be a great addition to your quiver.
- Control from the tee box
- High ball flight with powerful launch
- Unmatched feel
- Not a good option for beginners with low club head speed.
The TaylorMade SIM2 Max Fairway is designed to deliver a vast array of mid-handicap players maximum launch by employing a low center of gravity with a V Steel sole that cuts through any turf condition. The confluence of low face forgiveness and fast face technologies expand the sweet spot for uncompromised distance and accuracy.
Key Features:
- V Steel with Ultra-Low CG – Constructed with an 80-gram V Steel sole improves turf interaction and versatility at impact, while tour-inspired shaping and center of gravity properties solicit high launch with low spin for explosive distance.
- ZATECH Titanium with Twist Face – The Twist Face design overcomes inherent player mishit tendencies on an ultra-strong face material to accelerate ball speeds from a greater impact area.
- Multi-Material Construction – Built with a light carbon crown, titanium body, and steel sole plate merges a multitude of materials to deliver improved launch performance with high MOI (moment of inertia or, in other words, resistance to twisting), stability and forgiveness.
- Thru-Slot Speed Pocket – Increasing face flexibility to maintain ball speeds over more of the face, Thru-Slot Speed Pockets are engineered into the sole to proliferate distance on even low mishits.

What do you love about this product?
The SIM2 Max Fairway is a wonderful combination of aesthetics and performance. It has a higher launch and more moderate spin profile when compared to the standard SIM2 Fairway model. At address, the profile of the head looks very good leading to more confident swings. On the performance side, it has great distance coupled with an appropriate amount of spin that allow you to control the ball flight and have the ball stop more on the greens than other similar fairways. Why did you choose this product?
There are a lot of great fairway wood options out there now, but the SIM2 was the optimal choice for me. I chose the SIM2 Fairway because it was able to provide me with plenty of distance both off the tee and off the fairway, while still maintaining optimal height and spin. The result is a fairway wood that I can control very well whether I need to hit the fairway, or hit a par 5 in 2 (or a long par 4). The previous fairway I had used was a bit lower launch and lower spin, making control more challenging. As soon as I hit a few shots with the SIM2 Fairway, it went right into my bag. What was your favorite moment with this gear?
As great as the SIM2 Fairway is, I have had some fantastic moments with this club. The moment that sticks out as my favorite moment with this club would be during the club championship last summer at Lakewood Country Club. The 16th hole is a relatively long par 5 that takes two exceptional shots to reach the green. If you choose to take the green on, you have trees left, hazard long and right, and a bunker short. Additionally, the green is relatively shallow and is pretty significantly uphill, making holding the green very challenging even if you do hit a good shot. After a solid tee shot, I had 250 to the pin, uphill. I pulled out my SIM2 Fairway and hit an incredible shot. The ball had plenty of height and spin on it and managed to find the green, leaving me a 15-foot eagle putt that I made to win the match. Without a doubt, that was my favorite moment with the SIM2 Fairway.Similar woods
