The Orvis Men's Ultralight Storm 2.5L Jacket is a lightweight waterproof rain jacket. Made from two and a half layers of nylon, this jacket is 100% waterproof, breathable and windproof. Complete with a lifetime warranty, this is an excellent rain jacket for any outdoor activity such as backpacking, camping, or fishing.

Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Aug 10, 2024I shopped gradually, read extensively and learned from the experiences of others prior to deciding to purchase my Ultralight Storm Jacket. Yesterday and today I wore it out in pouring rain from the hurricane storm passing through my neighborhood and the NC Research Triangle.
I was totally dry and comfortable. The moisture wicking was a key factor in keeping me comfortable. At 6’ and 200 lbs the XL fits ideally; there’s room for layering in colder weather and the length easily overlaps the matching Ultralight Storm Pants.
I was surprised at first not to have pit zips, but they were not needed since the material is so lightweight and breathable. Besides, I’ve known pit zips to leak and be difficult to zip open or closed when wearing.
In the same manner. I was at first surprised not to have side pockets in the Ultralight Storm Pants. They are not needed because the XL 40” waist fit was ideal for me and the stretch allowed me to access the pockets in my shorts without any fuss, fumbling or time wasting.
In addition to my local satisfaction, I plan to use this combination to hike the Appalachian Trail next March to September. I have every confidence that I have chosen wisely because of Orvis quality, agreement from other more experienced hikers who have used the same combination and my experience these past two days.
Plus, I was fortunate enough to have both on sale, saving $50 on the jacket and $40 on the pants. I’m a longtime, loyal Orvis customer and I’ve yet to have any Orvis purchase wear out, fray, fade, shrink or otherwise have a lifetime warranty claim.
