Recommended care
SIMMS waders are all built from a durable breathable fabric. Whether that is GORE-TEX® or Toray®, the care that should be taken is the same. Waders should be dried after each use, both inside and out. Simms understands that certain situations do not allow for time to fully dry between uses. It is the expectation that this circumstance will contribute to a potential shorter lifespan. Breathable fabrics are porous in nature and can collect dirt, oils from the skin and other environmental substances. Regular cleaning of waders is a key contributor to their lifespan. Depending on the amount of days used, annual, bi-annual or tri-annual washing is recommended. Exposure to salt water or salt air requires special care: The waders must be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water and dried after each use.
Expert Q&A
Quick, accurate answers from Curated experts to the frequently asked questions
How do you fit Simms waders?
To properly fit Simms waders, you need three measurements. The first measurement is your largest girth area. This will be either your chest, waist, or hips. Next you will need to know your inseam. Lastly, you will need your shoe size. Take these three measurements and apply them to the Simms fitting chart and that will tell you which wader size you need.
Are waders worth it?
Waders may not be essential, but they make standing in water more comfortable. You can fish more spots, allowing you to reach areas that are harder to access from the land. In my opinion, yes they are worth it.
What is a Stockingfoot wader?
Stockingfoot waders have sock-like booties attached to the ends. A pair of wading boots and gravel guards (often built into the wader) are worn over these sock-like booties. This offers you the chance to buy waders and separate wading boots for a better fit and more comfort.
