The Curated Take

The ZX5s are a great set of irons for a 10-19 handicap player. If you are using a game improvement iron and want to upgrade to a smaller, more "Players Distance" looking iron, the Srixon is a great starting point. The Z5 is a great balance between thin top line, workability, and forgiveness. I recommend this iron to anyone that can strike an iron decently and is looking for the next level in performance.

Ideal for
  • Extreme forgivability for a players iron.
  • Excellent ball flight workability.
  • Great distance and penetrating ball flight
Not ideal for
  • Not for high handicap players
  • Low handicap players may look at the ZX7 for more flight control

For low to mid-handicap players seeking a forgiving yet workable iron with a premium on a soft forged feel. Combining powerful ball speed technologies with tour-refined shaping and V-Shaped soles delivers a sharp look at address and impact tolerances for optimal launch.

Key Features:

  • Mainframe – Maximizing COR for amplified ball speeds and distance, a milled pattern is imprinted on the backside of the irons.
  • Progressive Grooves – Wide, shallow grooves in the longer irons deliver consistent launch, while sharp, deeper, narrow grooves in the 8-iron through Pitching Wedge provide more spin control on approach shots.
  • Tour V.T. Sole – Gliding smoothly through the turf, providing reliable launch angles, V-Shaped soles can swing through various lies while maintaining clubhead speeds.
  • Multi-Piece Construction – A forged SUP10 face enhances ball speeds and is housed in a forged 1025 Carbon Steel body absorbing unwanted vibrations for a smooth feel.

These irons are going to be best for that middle-to-high handicapper. Anyone looking to get rid of the hand-me-downs and take the game more seriously would benefit from having the ZX5s in their bag. They have a sleek design and are consistent across the board when it comes to distance and control. They have a bit thicker soles than comparable... Read more

Matthew W tested this product
These irons are strong all-around performers, in my opinion, but don't stand out as exceptional in any one particular area. I was most impressed by how consistent my carry distances with these irons are on solid strikes. They also look great at address and in the bag as well and produce a soft, solid feel at impact. They are not... Read more

Nice Irons

Posted on Dec 19, 2023
Not for beginners. But mid to low handicappers will really like them. TONS of control and distance. Plus, they look really nice in the bag ;-)

I stumbled upon curated but I'm so glad I did. What a great concept to have an expert guide you through a purchase! Being new to golf, I wanted to make sure I was buying a good set of clubs and other accessories. The array of options is confusing. Having someone who knows what they are talking about help out without being a typical "pushy salesperson" was great. Definitely will work with Mike again as I start this journey.
