This ball is ideally designed for beginners. Players who are just getting into golf know that they are going to lose a bunch of balls on the course, so they want to spend as little as possible on balls. Usually, beginners buy Top Flight balls, which are typically $15/dozen. The problem with Top Flight balls is that they are hard as a rock. This makes it very difficult to control the distance and develop any sort of feel.
So, I encourage newer golfers to spend just a little more ($22/dozen) and get the Srixon Soft Feel balls. As a new and improving player, the soft feel is going to help build a better touch inside of 100 yards and on the putting green. Better touch means a higher likelihood of controlling the distance and getting shots closer to the hole, which inevitably leads to lower scores.
Ideal for
- The feel is super soft, like hitting a marshmallow.
- For a soft ball, the distance is impressive. There is minimal spin, so I could keep the flight low and penetrating.
- The durability of this ball is excellent. The ball can easily last a full round, if not more.
Not ideal for
- This ball does not produce a lot of spin, especially with the scoring irons and wedges.

The Srixon Soft Feel ball is one of the best soft golf balls on the market! It consistently performs highly for what it's made to do, which is deliver excellent spin and easy compression all while offering a buttery soft feel to players of all abilities. This is a perfect ball for beginner or intermediate players to use.

Sara recommended 3 choices for woods and irons. I settled on the TRS2 3W and TRS2 Hybrid with specific shafts she also recommended and the Golf Pride Tour Wrap G2 grips I preferred. I selected the Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal Pro Irons and got the 4-PW and added the G, L and S wedges with the shafts Sara recommended and the same grips I preferred. This combo is the best I have ever hit providing me with great satisfaction almost each time I hit the ball as I still, occasionally, hit a bad shot but that’s on me and not the club selection. Sara really was spot on with her selection of clubs for me and I also was recommended the Scotty Cameron Phantom putter which is the best putter I have ever had. Thanks again Sara! Really appreciate your knowledge and help!
