The Curated Take

This is a very forgiving and solid feeling set of game improvement irons for someone who doesnt mind a chunkier and larger head. They are very forgiving and easy to hit. They are very long, most will see a clubs more distance. They have a great feel due to the cap back head that is filled with foam.

Product details

The TaylorMade SIM2 Max Iron Set is designed for mid-handicap players seeking reliable launch and improved performance where it is needed most. With multi-material construction, low launch relief, and fast face technologies stability and distance are maximized from various impact locations.

Key Features:

  • Cap Back Design – Providing stability within the topline and upper perimeter of the face, a new Cap Back Design, utilizing a polymer and multi-material construction, supports the topline from heel to toe.

  • ECHO Dampening System – With the use of the Cap Back Design, a full hollow body construction paves the way for a new ECHO Dampening System with a soft polymer blend to channel away harsh vibrations for a forged-like feel.

  • Progressive Inverted Cone Technology – Expanding the sweet spot by uniquely designing each face to the threshold of the legal limits of speed proliferates distance from strikes on and off-center.

  • Thru-Slot Speed Pocket – Engineered to maximize face flexibility on a lower point on the face increases ball speeds and launch from mishits low on the iron.

  • Low Center of Gravity – Derived from an array of technologies including a fluted hosel and an undercut and ultra-thin face, a lowered center of gravity position in each club promotes a high but penetrating flight trajectory.

This is an excellent set of irons if you are looking for distance, forgiveness and feel, the echo dampening system, helps reduce vibrations on mishits and gives you the feel of a more expensive iron, it is slightly offset so will help with a slice or bad fade, it really will help for mid/high handicap golfers

Pros
  • excellent forgiveness
  • no vibrations or feedback on mishits
  • distance and forgiveness
Cons
  • thicker topline

TaylorMade's Sim2 Max Irons are a great option for Mid Handicap golfers, that are looking to get better distance out of well struck shots. Offering a carry distance design, not too wide of a sole or top line. Great option for beginners looking to improve, or long time golfers wanting to pick up extra distance without missing out on forgiveness.

Pros
  • All around performer
  • Great carry distance
  • Fits wide variety of golfers
Cons
  • Not as forgiving for higher handicappers, or as workable for lower handicappers

Can you share a story of a happy purchaser whom you recommended this product to?
I helped a young man get these irons last year. He wanted a new set that would improve his game. We got him these and he has been happy ever since. He hits the ball further, and with more accuracy now.
