Rylyn S. owns this product
I own this fly rod in the 5wt and 6wt and truly feel that these two fly rods are the best in their class, especially for trout applications. I have casted the 8wt in saltwater and prefer other 8wt options out there for saltwater specifically for distance. This fly rod in the 8wt loses power around the 70 - 75'... Read more
Ideal for
- Best fly rod for all-around performance in the 22-22 shootout.
- Laser accuracy at 40 - 70ft.
- Truly a great rod for freshwater with multiple saltwater options.
Not ideal for
- Very little I can say regarding cons here. In the 8wt, this fly rod loses its power after the 75ft mark.
- Not the best fly rod in high winds.

Skyler B owns this product
The 9' 5wt has always been considered the Swiss army knife of fly rods so I was willing the splurge for a rod that can do it all. After seeing the Douglas Sky G win the Yellowstone 5wt shootout, I had to give it a try for myself. Having done that, I don't plan on going back to any other... Read more
Ideal for
- Ultra Lightweight for all day castability
- Extremely versatile. Able to throw dries, nymphs, and streamers
- Able to be both powerful and delicate for accurate casting within all trout ranges
Not ideal for
- Doesn't load line as well up close and not as sensitive for landing flies in the "barley have any fly line out" range.

I own the 9' 5wt Douglas Sky G and it is hands down the best fly rod I have ever owned. This rod is an absolute blast to fish with. It is accurate with a soft tip allowing this fast action rod to present flies to easily spooked fish. The rod is extremely light allowing me to fish the entire... Read more
Ideal for
- This fly rod is very light (5wt = 2.7oz)
- This fast action rod make very accurate casts
- Capable of delicate fly presentations
Not ideal for
- The quality of the cord handle does not look as good as I would expect for a high end rod
- This rod uses single foot guides to decrease weight but I prefer the look and increased durability of traditional snake guides

I’m just a gal having fun learning to fly fish and ready to buy my own set up. Having minimal knowledge of what buy and loads of options out there, shopping can be a bit overwhelming. But, Johnny was so great to work with! His knowledge & attention to detail, and humor made it fun & easy figuring out a great starter set up best suited for me.

Matt helped me out of the fog and the overwhelming state I was in trying to buy my first Flyfishing set up…. I would still be fishing for gear a month from now if it wasn’t for him sticking his hand out to me.
5 /5
I’ve dealt with more than a handful of folks on fb marketplace that were downright aggressive, mean, and unhelpful to me over a series of exchanges in my search for gear. Matt was everything but. He not only pointed me in the right direction but he was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I needed all the help I could get and he was there. Thanknu again Matt.

I'm an intermediate angler with little knowledge of equipment. Rylyn was very responsive to all my questions, even the ones I thought were stupid. Very open about what he does and how he is paid. I highly recommend him.

Helped me with some valuable fly fishing knowledge that I lack coming from the conventional fishing world. Hooked me up with a good starter rod and even price matched it with another company. Will be coming back for a reel soon.
