For 5'4 we want to put you on a 44" pole. When you turn them upside down with your hands under the basket, your arms will be at a right angle. These atomic ones are light, sturdy, and most importantly have a safety release strap. So if you do happen to fall with your hands in there, that strap can pop out and protect you from hurting your wrist or fingers.
