The Curated Take

I would recommend the Mavrik Max irons for someone who is a mid to high handicap golfer looking to gain more distance and consistency within their irons. These irons have a sharp look to them when addressing the ball. They do have a larger sole to them so someone who is looking for a thinner design will probably look for something slimmer. In addition to distance and consistency their forgiveness is a tremendous plus as off centered hits still fly off the face better than most other irons.

These irons are great for new players wanting to maximize forgiveness and distance. Usually a high handicapper or new player will fit these clubs best. These are super durable clubs and good for anyone who is a casual player or wants consistent performance. Definitely more of a game improvement iron.

Pros
  • Very good for new golfers needing forgiving clubs.
  • Very large sweet spots.
  • Larger head sizes, that makes them super forgiving.
Cons
  • People should watch out for these if they want something with a more compact head. These have larger heads so not super workable.
  • These are cast irons so they are not as workable as forged clubs.
  • These are not the best for high handicappers.

How far should I hit my Callaway mavrik irons?
Intro: Specifics on how far someone should hit their Mavrik irons. Answer: Swing speed is the biggest factor when it comes to how far a golfer can hit their irons. Standard yardages for someone hitting the Mavrik irons would be a 5 Iron 170-180 yards, 7 iron 140-150 yards, PW 115-125 yards. If someone has an above average swing speed these distances would increase for each of the clubs listed. Same goes for someone who has a below average swing speed as the distances could be less. Conclusion: The average yardage for someone hitting Mavrik irons depends on swing speed, but their are typical averages that can be studied
