The Callaway Apex DCB 21 Irons are a part of the 2021 iron lineup from Callaway. The APEX DCB 12 Irons are the game improvement model of the 2021 Apex line. DCB stands for Deep Cavity Back, which is a design that offers higher handicap players a set of irons with more forgiveness and more consistency throughout the set. These irons are geared towards higher handicap players, looking for a set that will help improve their iron game.
Key Features:
- Forged Forgiveness – This iron is a forged iron, but with the deep cavity back and wider sole, it offers players more forgiveness than standard forged irons. The cavity back and wider soles allow for easy turf interaction and higher launch.
- Artificial Intelligence Face Cup Design – The cup face design improves ball speeds and helps players increase spin from their iron game. This helps create more distance and control, a benefit to have in the game improvement iron category.

The Callaway Apex DCB Irons are some of the best irons released in the past few years. They are forged irons, so they have a great feel and workability. These DCB irons truly are the best irons in the player distance class. The slightly thicker sole of these compared to the 2 other apex models make this the most forgiving Apex iron to date. The only down side to these irons is players will gain some distance, meaning gaining an iron in length.

Great feeling, forgiving iron that is for more than the high-handicap
Originally posted at www.callawaygolf.com on Sep 30, 2023I typically play a more “players” iron than these. My current handicap is just under 8. I purchased these for my higher handicap son and decided to play a round with them one out of curiosity. After several more rounds, I’m hooked.
I have not hit this many greens consistently in quite a while. Not only do they feel good, but the forgiveness is a game changer for me. These just seem to go straight with above average distance, which is fine for me as I don’t normally try to work the ball.
I’d encourage anyone to try these, even if you’re used to a smaller iron. You’ll more than likely find yourself hitting more greens, making a hard game easier.
