The Curated Take

The Callaway Apex DCB 21 irons are the game improvement iron from the Apex line. They offer maximum forgiveness and distance but lack a bit in workability. They are aimed at the player that wants a premium feel but are still looking for as little punishment as possible on those mis-hit shots.

Product details

The Callaway Apex DCB 21 Irons are a part of the 2021 iron lineup from Callaway. The APEX DCB 12 Irons are the game improvement model of the 2021 Apex line. DCB stands for Deep Cavity Back, which is a design that offers higher handicap players a set of irons with more forgiveness and more consistency throughout the set. These irons are geared towards higher handicap players, looking for a set that will help improve their iron game.

Key Features:

  • Forged Forgiveness – This iron is a forged iron, but with the deep cavity back and wider sole, it offers players more forgiveness than standard forged irons. The cavity back and wider soles allow for easy turf interaction and higher launch.
  • Artificial Intelligence Face Cup Design – The cup face design improves ball speeds and helps players increase spin from their iron game. This helps create more distance and control, a benefit to have in the game improvement iron category.
  • Forged 1025 Mild Carbon Steel – The forged body of these irons delivers premium feel for a game improvement iron. These irons are also equipped with urethane microspheres which helps deliver a solid feel and sound on impact.

This is a fantastic set for someone looking for a set of forgiving irons that have forged feel. They are a little larger and thicker than most forgings but they still look great. They shine on mishits they are very forgiving and the faces are pretty hot which gives extra distance. The most forgiving forging out there. If you want a slim blade like iron these are not for you but if you want playability and feel these are about as good as it gets.

Pros
  • Very forgiving iron especially for a forged club
  • Someone who wants forged feel and forgiveness
  • Very long hitting clubs
Cons
  • Little larger and thicker than most forged clubs

The Callaway Apex DCB 21 irons are fantastic irons for all players that want to improve their game. Since these clubs are forged, they provide better feel and workability compared to standard game improvement irons. So an player breaking 90 should look into these clubs as their next upgrade. They aren't as hard to hit as normal forged irons, but also more workable than game improvement clubs/

Pros
  • A player that wants more feel in their irons.
  • A player that wants to have solid forgiveness.
  • A perfect balance of workability and forgiveness.
Cons
  • Not as forgiving as normal game improvement irons.
  • Not as workable as traditional players distance irons.

This response will discuss the differences between the Callaway Apex 21 irons and Callaway Apex DCB 21 Irons. The standard Apex are smaller in size, smaller topline and sole, and more workable. The Apex DCB are larger in size, have more offset and are more game improvement. However, both irons are forged, meaning they have more feel and are quality.
