The Curated Take

The Cobra Forged Tec3 irons are a wolf in sheep's clothing. At first glance, they look to be a clean, forged, muscle back, blade-ish style iron and one would expect them to not be overly forgiving. This is where the hidden technology of these irons sneak up on you. The heads are actually a hollow design, filled with a proprietary TPU material. This moves weight out to the perimeter (like a cavity back game improvement iron). but hides the cavity. The TPU layer helps to soften impact feel and when combined with the forged face, really makes this iron feel soft and solid. No hand jarring blade here.

Pros
  • Very good forgiveness for a "Player's Distance" category iron.
  • GREAT feel, thanks to the TPU head insert and the forged design.
  • Solid combination of distance and feel.
Cons
  • Stronger lofts can put some people off, if combined with the wrong shaft.
  • The forged heads tend to mar easily. Headcovers are recommended

Low-Mid to Mid handicap players will find the Forged Tec's to be a marriage of tasteful looks and surprising forgiveness. This class of club truly defies all of the traditional logic of years past, where you were either a forged blade player or a cast cavity back player. You really get the best of both worlds here. Technology has finally rose to a place where they could make it happen. Make sure to pair the heads with a shaft that matches your swing speed/type and these clubs are likely to find a place in your bag for a long, long time.

Pros
  • *The perfect blend of a player's look with hidden tech.
  • *These irons will greatly appeal to the mid handicap player.
  • *These irons are exceptionally forgiving and sneaky long.
Cons
  • *The stronger lofts may take a little getting used to.

This is a great set of irons for someone looking for a players club in looks that is super forgiving and long. Lots of technology in these clubs with tungsten weighting and hot forged face. They are easy to use and long and forgiving. They look more like a players club from the back than they do at address. Great option for the mid handicapper who wants a great overall set.

Pros
  • Players look in a forgiving package
  • Long and easy to launch
  • Very forgiving
Cons
  • Not as soft feeling as expected from forged club

There are currently two variants in the COBRA KING Forged TEC iron family. The default Forged TEC favors the higher skilled player in the 0 - 10 handicap range, while Forged TEC X is appropriate for 10 to 20 handicap, being more forgiving and easier to hit consistently straighter and higher.
