These bindings are designed for advanced to expert level skiers who demand the highest level of performance and most release reliability from their bindings. The turntable heel piece gives these bindings a much more consistent lateral release which helps protect the knees from rotational forces. They also feature a shorter mounting zone that helps preserve the natural flex of the ski as well as a lower stand height that keeps the skier closer to the snow. These bindings do have a slightly better feel than traditional alpine bindings but the main improvement I noticed was the release reliability. I am a fairly large aggressive skier and I have struggled with pre-releasing on other alpine bindings and have even suffered a knee injury. After logging ~30 days on these bindings I have only released twice, and both times I was very glad that I did. Over that time I have yet to pre-release. These bindings won't be perfect for every rider, the full metal construction does lend itself to bombproof durability but it also makes these bindings very heavy. This typically won't be an issue but those who prefer light weight setups should be advised. They can also be a bit difficult to step into in deep snow; the turntable heel has to be lined up properly before they will engage. This isn't a deal breaker in most cases but is definitely something to be aware of if you plan on hiking with them in fresh snow.
