The Men's Ultralight Wading Jacket from Orvis® is made for the angler on the go who needs a waterproof, windproof jacket with smart additions for ease and comfort on the water. Its minimalist design is 100% percent waterproof, and it packs down small for travel.

- Not the thickest waterproof material, durability over the long term can be an issue.

This is the ideal jacket for a person looking for a rain jacket that can be easily stowed in a pack. The durable water repellent finish on the jacket repels water. The 20K waterproof rating and the 30K breathability rating will keep the wearer comfortable in those situations that require a rain jacket.

Good but not for heavy rain
Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Aug 20, 2024I had this for 3 years and used it on floats in Alaska. This year (2024) it failed mid-trip. Four hours into a day of heavy rain and wind it began to soak through and my upper body was soaked by the time we made camp. The other 8 guys were all fine. The good news: Orvis took the jacket back and I paid to upgrade to the Pro model -really great service. My jacket was the 2022 model, so maybe this one is better, but I recommend a heavier jacket for prolonged rain exposure.

Nice Jacket but could stand some improvements
Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Aug 16, 2024I have only just received it and I have not tested it in the rain. I wore it once so far on a day in the 60's with rain impending. My initial impression is that the jacket is well made, however it is a bit long for a "wading" jacket which are usually only belt long. I'm concerned that the cuff gusset might leak and there is no provision to tighten them. Also my jacket has no net attachment point on the back although the included description says there is one. I found the jacket to be a bit warm for an "ultra light" jacket, I have an older jacket from a company no longer in business that is lighter but no longer very waterproof. The description states it is packable but it neither rolls up into itself or comes with a stuff sack. It would also be nice if the attached hood could be rolled up into or onto the collar so the jacket be worn on cool but not rainy days. A D ring attachment point on the front of the jacket would be nice so that one could strap a watch there since the sleeve gusset interferes with reading a wrist watch (I do this on another brand but heavier jacket). I intend to use this more as a boat jacket for cool mornings in the tropics and stand by if it rains but I don't think I'd want to do any heavy wading in it.
