The Orvis Bamboo Adirondack Full-Flex Fly Rod is a 7 foot 6 inch, 2 piece, finely crafted traditional split bamboo fly rod made for a 5 weight line. The rod casts and feels like a classic split bamboo rod. A crisp feel is achieved with the strength of a swelled butt design and a delicate tip action. This rod is for the traditionalist fly fisherman who appreciates the look and feel of classic bamboo.

A small stream masterpiece!

Here in New England our casting lanes are very often narrow, and our wild trout are spooky. Precision is required or you will spend most of your valuable fishing time watching spooked fish flee while you pick your flies out of the shrubs- I know, it happened to me. For this type of fishing, I needed a rod that would allow me to consistently hit my target water, typically between 20’-30’ out. My Superfine 7' 6" 3 weight is the perfect tool for this role and performs way beyond my expectations. Within a few minutes of using the Superfine it felt like I had it for years, it just felt "right". For close range fishing this rod will load and turn over a 9’ leader with just a few inches of fly line out. When necessary I can cast that same fly rig out to 40’ or more. I own a graphite 3wt. made by a respected manufacture as well as a bamboo 3wt. and neither of them have that kind of versatility. And glass rods are just plain fun to begin with, a Bluegill feels like a Steelhead on one. I highly recommend this rod.

Fun rod in tight places!
Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Jul 28, 2024I used my 6-6” Superfine glass rod for the first time on a small stream and caught at least a half dozen trout from 10”-15”. It was easy to handle in tight spots and cast well for a short rod. It is a fun rod to use.
