Expert Q&A
Quick, accurate answers from Curated experts to the frequently asked questions
Are Salomon boots good ski?
Salomon makes good ski boots in a range of intended uses, sizes and flex. The key to getting a comfortable fit in a boot is finding a ski boot in the right mondopoint (length) size, with the right "last" (width) and the right amount of flex for you as a skier. A good-fitting boot will be comfortable for a long day on the hill, whether its made by Salomon, or another boot manufacturer. So, if the Salomon boot you are choosing, is the right fit and flex for you -- it will be comfortable.

Is 130 flex too stiff?
A 130 flex boot is too stiff for all but the most aggressive and strongest all-mountain skiers. For All-Mountain ski boots, and ski boots marketed to the general public, the highest flex offered is a 130 flex - which is suitable for very strong, aggressive skiers. Unless you find yourself overpowering a 110 or 120 flex boot, a 130 stiff boot will probably be stiffer than ideal.

What's the difference between Salomon S Max and S Pro?
Salomon uses the terms S/Max, S/Pro and S/Pro HV to differentiate between the lasts (widths) on its narrow (low volume), medium (mid volume) and wide (high) volume boots. S/max boots are the narrowest, with a stated last of 98mm. S/Pro are the medium-width boots with a stated last of 100mm and S/Pro HV are the widest. (102mm). In short, S/Max boots are ideal for skiers with narrower feet, S/Pro boots are best-suited for skiers with medium width feet, and S/Pro HV are for skiers with wider feet.
