The Orvis Men's Softshell Convertible Mitt is built to keep hands warm while fishing in the winter. These convertible fishing mitts are waterproof and breathable. The softshell abrasion resistant fabric and grid fleece backing make these comfortable mittens. A DWR coating makes them waterproof. These are great for the cold water fisherman.

OK and dry and cool weather.
Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Oct 2, 2024These worked well and dry weather down to 20°F on my trip to Mongolia. They were entirely useless on the day it rained but they dry out relatively quickly. You will need something else if you are fishing in cold and wet conditions.

Great gloves

I keep a pack of nitrile gloves in my car and often use those when I forget the Orvis ones, but it’s much more difficult to tie with small flies and light tippet.
With the fingers pulled back on these, it’s no problem. Just make sure to only handle trout with wet bare fingertips, as it palming them will pull off the slime.
