The Curated Take

This ball is ideally designed for beginners. Players who are just getting into golf know that they are going to lose a bunch of balls on the course, so they want to spend as little as possible on balls. Usually, beginners buy Top Flight balls, which are typically $15/dozen. The problem with Top Flight balls is that they are hard as a rock. This makes it very difficult to control the distance and develop any sort of feel.

So, I encourage newer golfers to spend just a little more ($22/dozen) and get the Srixon Soft Feel balls. As a new and improving player, the soft feel is going to help build a better touch inside of 100 yards and on the putting green. Better touch means a higher likelihood of controlling the distance and getting shots closer to the hole, which inevitably leads to lower scores.

Pros
  • The feel is super soft, like hitting a marshmallow.
  • For a soft ball, the distance is impressive. There is minimal spin, so I could keep the flight low and penetrating.
  • The durability of this ball is excellent. The ball can easily last a full round, if not more.
Cons
  • This ball does not produce a lot of spin, especially with the scoring irons and wedges.

PLAY BY FEEL

INTRODUCING THE ALL-NEW, 12TH GENERATION SOFT FEEL.

FASTLAYER CORE

Overall, SOFT FEEL features our softest FastLayer Core to date. FastLayer operates here just as it does in our most premium ball offerings.

Fast Layer gradually transitions from a softer inner core to a firm outer edge, behaving like a core with thousands of layers, giving you distance and great feel without compromise.

DISTANCE NEVER FELT THIS GOOD

The new SOFT FEEL features our softest FastLayer Core to date. But with a completely redesigned formulation, this latest generation adds more resiliency.

A more resilient core snaps back to shape more quickly just after impact. That added snap means more ball speed and more distance off the tee.

FLY FARTHER

Defy drag with Srixon’s proprietary 338 Speed Dimple pattern.

The 338 Speed Dimples featured on the all-new SOFT FEEL improve overall aerodynamics for better flight performance with drivers, woods, and irons. With just the right combination of dimple uniformity and dimple occupancy, Speed Dimples boost distance and fly straight, even in the toughest wind conditions.

The Srixon Soft Feels are designed to provide smooth strikes and increased control. Best suited to golfers with slower swing speeds and high-mid handicaps. However, players of all skill levels will find benefits with this high-quality and affordable product.

I love this ball for its reliable spin and control. While it doesn't pack the distance punch of other brands, the Soft Feel is consistent, predictable and easy to manipulate on approach. This makes it perfect for rainy/wet conditions.

Pros
  • 5-Star Feel: The name says it all. These balls have a soft, smooth feel off the club face, which generally increases comfort and control.
  • Spin Control: Excellent and reliable spin which builds consistency and confidence.
  • Budget Friendly: Srixon Soft Feel golf balls are also affordable, making them perfect for golfers who don't like sacrificing quality for price.
Cons
  • Distance: Srixon Soft Feels don't always provide the distances of their competitors.
  • Durability: These balls occasionally crack during a round and are not quite as durable as other options.
