The Curated Take

By the Expert Community
4.4/5

The Mizuno Pro 225 is the most forgiving of the Mizuno Pro line. It is a hollowed out blade from Mizuno and it focuses on attaining higher ball speeds. When I hit the 4 iron, my ball speed went up 7 (!!) mph which is drastic! The ball comes off of the face like a rocketship and it lands soft on the green. This is my favorite Mizuno iron to date, I have no complaints. The distance and launch it gives you is shocking and what makes it even better is that it is a blade but it. is super forgiving because it has a thicker body than the players iron, the 221. All around a super versatile club and they are definitely going to go in my bag in the next few months!

Ideal for
  • Powerful ball flight
  • Pretty, sleek looking club
  • Smooth, soft feel off the face
Not ideal for
  • Pretty strong lofted, could cause gapping issues

The Mizuno Pro 225 Single Iron is ideal for single-digit handicap and advanced ball strikers demanding a pure-feeling, aesthetically flawless iron that delivers precise control over the shape and trajectory of every golf shot. A meticulous forging process, along with a soft copper underlay delivers seamless feel, consistency, and feedback for advanced players to fine-tune their iron performance.

Key Features:

  • Grain Flow Forging – A Grain Flow forging process used to engineer the face and the neck of the iron delivers impeccable feel, consistency, and craftmanship to each club.
  • Soft Copper Underlay – Producing a soft, pure feel, a microlayer of copper is constructed under the Nickle Chrome face.
  • Hot Metal Blade Design – A thin face, backed with added tungsten weight in the mid and low irons, helps deliver a consistent ball flight with accelerated ball speeds, helping to generate deeper distance.
  • 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel 9-PW – The 9-iron and Pitching Wedge feature a 431 steel back weight providing players with versatile ball flight control and targeted approach shots to the pin.

With my experience with the Mizuno 225's, they have been my favorite irons that I've ever swung. I have the whole set and I don't see myself anything else for a long time. Their cavity back design while making the head look nice and small is just the cherry on top. But, Mizuno's technology is some of the most advanced... Read more

Christopher Thompson tested this product
The Mizuno Pro 225 iron is perfect for a mid-handicap player looking for an advanced iron feel. The blade shape offers the consistency and feel of a blade but with a slightly larger size for added forgiveness. The single iron works perfectly in a combo set with the Mizuno Pro 221 irons.
Ideal for
  • Great feel
  • Workability
  • Blade style consistency
Not ideal for
  • Smaller head shape requires consistent ball striking

What is the best set of Mizuno irons?

Mizuno forging offers premium looking and feeling clubs for low to mid handicappers. Their best set for forgiveness is going to be the hot metals. The Mizuno Pro 223's or JPX 921 Forged for Mid handicappers, and there are plenty of blade options for low handicappers.

Is Mizuno 225 cavity back?

Mizuno Pro 225's are not a cavity back. These are blade irons that offer progressive face thickness to help generate faster club head speeds and offer more forgiveness than traditional blades.

Very efficient and thorough

Instead of just asking for measurements and experience Bobby was more thorough and asked how dedicated i am, what kind of playing i do and things that most overlook. Took the time to send a video explaining the clubs he recommended for me and gave me two great options based on the information. i was having a hard time finding clubs on my own and if not for Bobby specifically i probably would have gave up and kept renting low quality clubs. Definitely a great experience and i’m excited to really start honing my golfing skills. Thanks Bobby.

I am brand new at golf. The most experience I have revolves around playing at TopGolf. I decided I wanted to take on golfing as a more serious hobby, but I had no idea how to start. Andrew answered my questions and took his time explaining my options to me. Greatly appreciated!

Ted was in a hurry to be methodical! Didn't attempt to push a particular model, brand or style. Wasn't interested in rushing my decision, and was unbelievably patient with my thoughts, questions, concerns and curiosities. He took his time to incorporate my inconsistencies and issues with my game to recommend types, lofts, angles, fact types, etc so that I had a cart with only pertinent and relevant items in it. Then to top it off, found every discount and reduction available to ensure I had the lowest cost per item and overall, for my cart. What more could anyone hope for??!! Cannot recommend Ted highly enough and I hope anyone reading this gets to work with him on their purchases! Thank you for the time, energy, effort and patience Ted!

Screen 2 had a tip listed in the total that I had not agreed to. I felt that I needed to determine what $ tip I would leave. The tip amount was introduced on screen 3. I felt the tip needed to be my decision prior to it being in the total.
