The Orvis Clearwater fly rod is a well built entry level rod that has plenty of room for anglers to grow. The moderate fast action is far crisper than many entry level rods and is of high enough quality that more experienced anglers should consider this as a back up rod.

Nice rod for the money
Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Dec 16, 2024Got this rod as a backup for my helios 4 tu life member rod for steelhead. Haven't used it yet as northern ohio has been under alot for snow and I can't get to the creeks I fish. Casted it in my back yard and seems very capable of handling steelhead just by the feel of the rod. Took it to the high school football field in town and it pulled up 20 yards of line with ease. Very good rod for the money. I feel it's a good starter rod at any wt.

Dont buy a clearwater if youre throwing meat
Originally posted at www.orvis.com on Nov 15, 2024Tried to go cheap and not blow the bank on Helios (really want a Helios)… have snapped a Clearwater 7wt towards lower section of the rod on 3 occasions in the middle of casting when throwing streamers with sinking line.
