The Curated Take

The Srixon Q-Star is one of the most impressive mid-range golf balls on the market. The Q-Star stands out by offering premium control and spin both around the green and from the fairway or tee-box. While any average player with standard swing speeds would enjoy the enhanced performance that the Q-Star has to offer, this ball will certainly hold its own for more experienced players as well.

The Srixon 2022 Q-Star is a high-quality, low-spin ball that feels soft off the club and won’t break the bank. It provides excellent control in the short game and solid distance in the long game.

While Srixon doesn't boast top-tier brand recognition, their quality and performance matches (or exceeds) many of their higher-priced competitors. Professionals such as Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama have both won majors using Srixon balls and - in my opinion - the Q-Stars provide the same performance and quality as Titleist ProV 1’s - all at 2/3rds of the price.

The 2022 Q-Star perfectly rides the line between soft and firm. In other words, this ball feels incredible with any club in the bag and from any spot on the course. Srixon’s unique Spin Skin ball cover maximizes spin and provides superb stopping power on approach.

Players with solid swing speeds will have no trouble maintaining their distances, and players requiring extra control will consider the Q-Star an excellent ally from the 7 iron to the LW. Overall, the** **Q-Star is designed for golfers who desire top-tier performance without paying top-tier prices.

  • Maximizes spin; provides incredible stopping power on approach.
  • Power in the long game; control in the short game.
  • Premium quality without the premium price tag.
  • Doesn't provide the distance boost off the tee that some might expect from a top-tier golf ball.

It is aimed at mid to high-handicap golfers who will appreciate the fell and distance the Q-star offers.

This two-piece golf ball feels more like a three-piece quality golf ball.

The lack of spin is not a negative at this price point. The ball has more rollout on the greens but isn't out of control. The combination of performance, durability, and feel make this ball appear more "premium."

Consider this as an option for your next golf ball purchase.

  • A two-piece ball that feels more expensive.
  • Low spin provides increased distance.
  • Outstanding value in performance and price.
  • Lack of spin control. As a two-piece ball, it will roll out more than stop quickly on the greens
  • Durability might be an issue. I noticed a lot of scuff marks within a few holes.
