If you are looking for a small/compact/workable blade-like set of irons that provide more distance and forgiveness than a typical set of blades, the P790s will be a great option for you. They are exceptionally long and forgiving for their size and produce an explosive yet soft feel at impact that is different than a typical forged blade but pleasant, in my opinion. The only drawback to these irons is that the toplines are a bit thicker than most players prefer to see when looking down at a blade, but it does not affect their playability. Personally, I like to look down at a small, compact iron head that I can work left and right, but I also want more forgiveness and distance than you get in a traditional blade, so these irons have been working wonderfully for me and have stayed in my bag for nearly a year now.
- Extremely long
- Very forgiving for their size
- Soft feel
- Toplines are thicker than most irons of similar size
The TaylorMade® P790 2021 Irons are ideally made for low- to mid-handicap players who demand a more exceptional feel, along with added distance from a wider area of the club face, than a player's shaped iron typically provides. Blending premium looks with face flexibility and fast face technologies solidifies reliable, penetrating ball flights.
Key Features:
- SpeedFoam™ Air – A weight savings of 3.5g (67% lighter than its predecessor) improves launch, delivering an exquisite sound and feel with a fast, flexible club face.
- Forged L-Face – Using a new 8620 carbon-steel construction thins out the face in strategic locations allowing a lower center of gravity placement with a responsive forged 4140 L-Face for great flexibility and a premium forged feel.
- Tungsten Mass – Placing 31g of tungsten at the toe of the iron creates increased stability and forgiveness in a player's shaped iron.
- Thru-Slot Speed Pocket™ – This is built into the iron to further increase face flexibility while preserving ball speeds and low face impacts.

What do you love about this product?
There are many things I absolutely love about theses irons. We can start with the exceptional feel during contact and the feedback it gives you. Buttery soft on center contact, a bit harsher on mishits letting you know where you hit on the club face. This allows for adjustments and corrections. The sound of these irons is second to none somehow managing to sound both muted and powerful at the same time. The P790's provide great distance in a compact package giving you the look ,feel and distance to play your best. Why did you choose this product?
I was a PXG guy until I went to a Taylormade fitting for the P790. I really liked the looks of the P790's but fell in love after several really nice 7 irons into a green 165 yards away. I felt that the look was much nicer, sleek is a great word. I don't feel that it was that much longer than my previous set but the same length combined with a great sound and feel converted me to the P790. I am currently considering the newer version of P790's and will be test them next weekWhat is the value for the money versus other options?
Taylormade P790's are an excellent value. They pack a ton of tech in a sleek powerful package that is a joy to play with. These irons have been a staple in the Taylormade line-up proving their playability and performance lives up to the accolades. They have made small tweaks here and there over the past version but nothing major. I guess it hard to improve on a winning product. You may find other iron sets that offer distance or forgiveness, this often comes with a trade-off of looks, feel, or sound. P790's in my opinion is the complete package.Customers also bought Bags
