The Curated Take

The Ride Shadowban is going to be a one-board quiver for any intermediate to advanced rider that needs a board that can hold its own anywhere on resort. From bombing groomers to cutting up the park, the Shadowban excels at almost everything you throw its way. This directional twin, all-mountain freestyle hoss gives off a super reliable ride thanks to a just-above-medium flex and rock-out camber profile. Carbon stringers and plating allow this board to pop hard and remain durable. Slime wall absorbs vibration at speed allowing you to truly Indy 500 your way down runs without getting bucked around. Anyone who has ridden a Ride board can attest to the slime wall technology, it seriously absorbs everything. The downside to all of this tech is that it won't be easy to manipulate or maneuver it without using a bit of muscle. The edges aren't going to be near Salomon or Gnu on ice, but I still felt locked in. This also won't be the best powder board out there considering it runs fairly narrow in waist width. If you have any experience riding off-piste then it will still hold its own, this just means you will need to use that backfoot and won't be able to surf and carve as much. I recommend this for a hardbody boarder who likes to ride fast, jump high, and play around on the whole resort. Someone who needs a board that truly excels on groomers but can still handle variable conditions.

Ideal for
  • Hard Charging
  • Boosting Side hits
  • Absorbing Chop
Not ideal for
  • Powder riding (takes some backfoot work)
  • Not a jib stick by any means (just takes more effort)
  • Edge hold wasn't the best on ice

The Shadowban is an all-new model that was designed for versatility. The Standard Camber profile and Carbon Array 3™ assures that you’ll have pop when you need it without adding stiffness. A Sintered, Stone Ground base sucks up wax to keep you mobbing all winter. This directional twin is a twin shape with a slightly set back reference stance for maximum versatility. The Shadowban is built to be comfortable anywhere on the mountain from the peak to the park. If you’ve been searching for one board to do everything with no compromises, your search is over.

This board is built for really anyone looking for a board that will be a one quiver killer. The one board you can use to do it all. Park laps, side hits, powder, groomers, trees, back country. This boards ability to really do it all starts with its directional twin shape, camber dominant hybrid profile with rocker in the tips,... Read more
Ideal for
  • Best for all mountain riding, float in powder due to rocker in the tip and tail of the board.
  • Mid flex hybrid camber. Power under the feet with catch free edges in the nose and tail due to the rocker.
  • Best for someone looking for a do it all board, directional twin, option for set back stance, and added carbon for snap.
Not ideal for
  • Hybrid profile so wont perform the same as a pure rocker or camber.
  • Directional twin so it wont feel exactly like a true twin. The nose is slightly larger then the tail
  • Little more weight then expected.

Great ride but also agree the topsheet can get dinged easily.

Been riding this board all 2023/24 season as my daily driver. Probably got in around 12-15 days on it. It is a pleasure to ride, I'm more of a intermediate carver but don't do a lot of freestyle/park riding. It is responsive, fun, holds its edges, and had improved my riding and overall experience. I did however notice the black top sheet with white underlayer is easy to damage and has some noticeable edge wear. I'm not sure if companies offer touch up paint or anything like that but I actually repainted part of the nose where I had a major scratch with flat black Estes brand model paint and it matched and blended in fairly well. I used a foam brush with 2 coats and I went over it lightly with 000 steel wool after to kind of blend where I painted with the factory finish. I love the board but my concern will be its ongoing durability, especially where the top sheet meets the side walls.

Shadowban

This board is the liveliest board Ive ever ridden, and lives up to the hype. Very quick edge to edge, extremely poppy, holds the edge well, and still very forgiving yet very playful. Very seldomly, do you hop on a board and instantly feel like your riding improves, but this is exactly how I felt on the Shadowban. Extremely satisfied with my third Ride board, even better than the Wildlife and the Yukon I had back in the day. Im 6’4” and 235, riding for 25 years in California, Utah and Colorado and am now rolling a Shadowban 164W mountainwide.

Nate was super knowledgeable & friendly!

Nothing but great things to say about Nate! He was SO responsive and offered many suggestion in my price point. He tailored my ski equipment based on my body needs. He knew things I’ve never even thought about, like my high arches and how that would impact boot selection. We had a blast picking out my skis and he was so patient as I went back and forth many times. I recommend everyone work with Nate!

If you are looking for gear and need something knowledgeable and patient, Tyler’s the guy

I haven’t skied in 15 years. Tyler helped me understand the new technology and products available. He knew I wasn’t in the market to buy too much equipment but still steered me towards gear that would work best for me to rent.

Went through my first Curated purchase process, and was really surprised about how helpful Nate was in helping me select my new gear. He was friendly, asked the right questions, and and answered everything from me. He knew all the products he recommended, and let me know about some important differences in equipment that I needed to know before making my purchase. He also kept me under budget, which was extra awesome.

Brett was able to quickly put together a few ski selections for me within just a couple of minutes. It was difficult to pick one because they were all great suggestions! He has tons of knowledge and even has personal experience with a lot of the gear he recommends. He's also mindful about budget and I didn't feel pressured to fork out tons of money for something I didn't think I could afford. Awesome curator!

Mark won't steer you wrong!
5 /5
This is the second year in a row I've come to curated to recommend me a pair of skis. Last year, I submitted for all mountain skis with a focus on carving and Mark recommended me a pair of Atomic Maverick 95ti 172. I've absolutely loved them. Mark nailed it on the head with these as I was easily able to accomplish my carving goals for that season. He/She/They provided quick responses, detailed technical explanations when asked, and an overwhelmingly pleasant experience. This year, I submitted for a freestyle ski and they paired me with Mark again! I'm not sure if curated does that by design but it was very convenient as I had access to our chat history from last year to look at the previous discussions we had. This time, Mark recommended a pair of Armada ARV 94 171. Once again, he/she/they provided quick feedback and solid technical advice about ski length and binding mounting positions. I have purchased these skis for next season so I have yet to try them, but many other reviews seem to agree with Mark's recommendation. I will return by the end to next season to document my experience, but I have full confidence in Mark's recommendation of these skis. Mark won't steer you wrong!
