The Curated Take
The Ride A-8 is a perfect do-it-all binding for the aggressive rider. They are lightweight, thanks to the cutouts in the high back and the aluminum series chassis that is so popular from Ride. I have ridden the aluminum series from Ride multiple times over the past decade. I am always impressed by their low weight and highly adjustable platform. My shoe size is 10.5, which puts me in the M/L category. The adjustable chassis allows me to get the binding length just perfect:) The A-8 binding is built stiff (8/10), so it really helps to lock in heel edges. I find it to be a very poppy binding in the park, hard-charging on the groomers, and ready for whatever in the backcountry. Ride also does a great job with the canted footbeds to help reduce fatigue on Knees and MCLs. I really like the way that Ride builds their ankle straps to be reversible. The ability to flip it and make it stiff, or flip it and make it soft, is a really nice touch. It points out how Ride actually pays attention to its end user and wants to create features that help push the industry forward. The A-8 is lightweight, stiff, comfortable, adjustable, and ready for whatever. I would highly recommend this binding to anyone who wants a little more out of their current setup.
- A lightweight binding that is also responsive.
- Great for aggressive riders who want something on the stiffer side.
- Good adjustability for different feet/boot shapes and sizes.
- I wish Ride made an orange or red color.
- High backs could use a little more padding.
