In addition to the Breville Precision Brewer Thermal Coffee Maker, we needed to upgrade our grinder. My partner and I went with the Breville Smart Grinder Pro Coffee & Espresso Grinder and have been thoroughly impressed by it. The versatility of the grinder is something I had not seen before as most grinders are designed for either coffee OR espresso, not both. I love how I can set exactly how many cups of coffee I'm making (or shots of espresso), and it perfectly portions out exactly what I need. In my years as an espresso technician, I learned how difficult it was for baristas to portion out the right amount of coffee grounds for the amount of coffee they needed to brew. In addition, my cousin had never learned that there are different ratios of grounds to water for various types of coffee brewing. This grinder takes all that inconsistency out of the equation to allow for any coffee drinker to have the best results every time. My only con for this grinder is that it has conical burrs compared to flat burrs. The average user would not notice a difference in taste or texture, but as a technician I prefer the grind consistency of flat burrs every time. I will say, the conical burrs that my Breville machines contain have been surprisingly consistent compared to others I have seen. I think Breville has done a great job with all their home products. This all-purpose grinder is groundbreaking and affordable!
