The Curated Take

All mountain skis are tough cookies... I mean, they gotta be best somewhere...and how do you know without trying them out, right?! Well, that's why I'm here. This all mountain ski is best in the moguls, touring, and they even make for fine park and groomer skis. Sure, without the twin tips, it's more of an intermediate park ski, but the K2 reckoner is a similar option with a twin tip if that's important to you. Here's a 60 second video about this Mindbender https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DwDDxUPZqeA

Ideal for
  • Touring
  • Moguls
  • This is a great ski for all levels
Not ideal for
  • Graphics could be cooler, but whatever
  • No twin tip
  • Only wide enough for light powder

The new K2 Mindbender 89Ti for the 2023 season has improved edge-hold and a lighter-weighted core, making it a go-to freeride and carving ski for when soft snow is in short supply. The 89Ti has the same Titinal Y-Beam construction and all-terrain rocker profile as its counterpart, the Mindbender 99Ti, but its narrower waist width and camber provides more edge control on groomed surfaces. The all-terrain rocker profile and core keep this ski nimble enough to tackle anything from bumps, trees, and chopped up snow with ease.

Key Features:

  • Titinal Y-Beam – This feature delivers precision in the forebody of the ski, while providing power underfoot and stability in the tail. A precision-cut "Y" shape in the tail alters the torsional stiffness of the ski, while maintaining a balanced flex pattern that delivers power evenly.
  • All-Terrain Rocker Profile – There is a gradual ride in the tip and the tail for added versatility, meaning it will not snag up in any snow conditions.
  • Aspen and Maple Wood Core – Aspen wood provides a lightweight quality while giving riders the advantage of proven flex and durability. This is combined with tougher maple wood which absorbs impact and provides an energetic feel to the core of the ski.

Enjoying My New Skis

Originally posted at k2snow.com on Feb 17, 2024
I have seven days of hard skiing in a variety of snow conditions on my new MB 89Ti skis. They’ve been a great replacement for my old Pinnacle ’95’s and I’m able to ski the whole mountain with confidence regardless of the terrain or snow conditions. The only challenge I’ve run into so far is negotiation tall piles of heavy new snow. Otherwise, they’ve been great.

Sweet all rounders for when

Originally posted at k2snow.com on Jan 4, 2024
Sweet all rounders for when stuff is a bit more packed out. EZ going frontside chargers. Good contrast vs. my QST 98s which are more for soft days.

I've been shopping on curated and bouncing ideas off of Alex for some time now, never actually pulling the trigger. My budget has been hit and miss and often I've had to forego new in favor of used when it finally comes to the purchase. Alex has always been so helpful and ready to give advice on what gear is going to be best for me. I'm sure he'll be shocked when he sees I finally made a purchase 😅 thanks bud!

I've been looking to add new skis to my quiver after demoing Rossignal powder skis in Utah. I liked the demos but wasn't sure if they were the right choice. Tucker shared a few similar skis and one was the Atomic skis I had also demoed in WY. I settled on the Rossignal and Ticker also setup a bundle with recommended bindings for the skis. Overall, a great experience while making a sizable investment to enhance my skiing experience.
