- I pull out this thing when I really wanna go fast. Absolutely charges and rips the steeps.
- Easily able to lay out beautiful carves with this board.
- Highly stable at high speeds, also has good float in pow.
Not ideal for
- Not the most versatile board, I wouldn't take it to the park

Originally posted at ridesnowboards.com on Jan 10, 2025I am really enjoying this board. For reference I’m 5’10” 220lbs with 10. 5 boots. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Board is actually a really good fit for what I wanted it to do. Medium to long drawn out carves are this boards strength, short quick carves or tight tress not so much. I bought this as an excess board from last years surplus and only ridden this year. Edge hold is great and it really dampens vibrations underfoot. I ride Midwest and east coast primarily. This has been excellent on firm fast icy groomers carver and powder board but a chore in tight trees. I wouldn’t recommend as a do all board but as a second board in addition to your all mountain directional twin. This was more what I thought the deep fake would be. In comparison for stiffness I would put in between ride berserker as most stiff then mtnpig then ride deep fake. Have gotten to ride in 6”-12” deep fresh and chopped up powder and board was great also good for just straight lining. Feel like this really wants to charge a wide open bowl out west and I am hoping to take it out there soon.

I was looking to upgrade my beginner set of skis (Atomic Cloud 9s) and had no idea where to begin. Joe asked all the right questions to help me narrow down what I wanted out of my next set. Luke was very helpful as I am new to skiing but I feel as if I'm acclimating faster than the average person. I wanted to get something a little more advanced that I could grow into quickly and it also be useful for all-mountain usage. At first I thought I had made my decision prior to talking to him about getting Volkl mantra 88's, but I determined with his help that a larger waist was going to be a more versatile ski for me in the Rockies. A few conversations later, I fell into the Rustler 9's instead of using Volkl mantra 88's or mantra 7's. He really helped push me in the right direction so I could make a targeted approach.
