Who would love these

The K2 Poacher Skis are perfect for skiers who love the park but also want to explore the whole mountain. They're ideal for intermediate to advanced skiers who enjoy a playful ride and want a ski that can handle jumps, rails, and varied terrain. If you're someone who values durability and versatility in a ski, the Poacher is a great match. However, if you're looking for a ski specifically for deep powder or high-speed carving, you might want to consider other options.

Why I recommend these

Durable and versatile
Lively and energetic
Great for park and all-mountain

Expert verdict

The K2 Poacher Skis are a dream for park enthusiasts and all-mountain adventurers alike. What I love most is their durability and versatility. Whether you're hitting jumps in the park or cruising down groomers, these skis deliver a lively and energetic feel thanks to their unique core design. The twin tip design makes switch riding a breeze, and the added stability is perfect for those looking to push their limits. While they might not be the best for deep powder or high-speed carving, they shine in almost every other scenario. If you're after a reliable, fun, and playful ski, the Poacher is a fantastic choice.

The K2 Poacher is known as one of the most durable park skis out there. The core of this ski keeps it stable, solid, stiff, and ready to attack what challenges are going to be thrown its way. Known best as a versatile park ski, the Poacher is at home in the air, terrain park, halfpipe, and all around the mountain.

Key Features:

  • All Terrain Twin Rocker – Equal extended rise at the tip and tail prevents snagging when riding switch and allows for added versatility and control.
  • Double Barrel Core – It combines a denser fir wood core around the edges for power and impact resistance and a lighter-weight aspen wood core in the center for a livelier and energetic feel.
  • Twintech Sidewalls – The ski has durable sidewalls that are specifically built to make the top edges more resistant to ski impact damage.

Who would LOVE the 2023 K2 Poachers? Any skier looking for a dialed ski for both in and outside the park. If you want a high-speed carver that's stable at speeds, these are not the skis for you. This ski is one of my favorite park skis I have ever ridden. It is very stable on big landings, and backseat washouts just don’t happen. This ski is snappy with its carbon braided stringers and is very fun to butter and pop. As much energy as you can put into the ski, you get back out making Ollie’s and... Read more

The K2 Poacher is an excellent one ski quiver for anyone who is in the terrain park daily but still wants to be able to keep up with their ski crew on the rest of the mountain. These skis are park/freestyle skis at their core, but they are so much more than that. They are obviously incredible on any terrain... Read more
Ideal for
  • Full sidewall makes these super durable and stable
  • Very nimble and fun to ski everywhere but especially in the park
  • Insanely durable
Not ideal for
  • Narrow waist width makes it sink in deeper powder
  • Could have a bit better energy transfer groomers
  • Might be too flexible for heavier/advanced high speed skiers

Super sick skis, 1 issue

Originally posted at k2snow.com on May 11, 2018
Definitely the best skis I ever had for park. Super poppy and reactive. Although I had an issue (and some of my friends with the same skis): The bindings were popping out of the skis easily, maybe a problem with the core or something, but I had to remount them a few times too much. :(

Kat was so helpful!
5 /5
Kat was so patient with all my questions and truly helped me figure out what gear would work best for me! She recommended me a good couple of boards and went into detail on each one and what the different features were and how they’d benefit me. As someone who buys for looks and pretty colors, I’m glad I had help to be confident in my purchase for my ride style and experience level!

As someone buying skis for the first time, but having skied for a few years Leo was incredibly helpful! He took into account what I prioritized but also explained why a suggestion might be out of my initial request. For example, he got ahead of my question on why bindings are expensive and why it is important to not only focus on the skis but the bindings as well.

Frankie really dialed in the board for me
5 /5
He has extensive knowledge, and was really able to find the perfect setup for me and my riding style as well as my bank account. Also was honest and kept me from making a purchase that I might regret. We talked for at least an hour and the whole time he was very helpful. All in all he really knows his stuff when it comes to getting you into the perfect set up. I highly recommend him. Thanks again Frankie.

Tyler was awesome!
5 /5
I’ve been using a board from 2005 for the last 4 or so years now. Finally decided it was time to upgrade but had no idea of what to upgrade to. He asked what I was looking for, and ended up narrowing it down to exactly what I need/want, to further my skills. He’s very knowledgeable and approachable, and overall very friendly. Was nice talking to Tyler and I’m super stoked to get up on the mountain.
