The Curated Take
The Blizzard Zero G is an incredible touring ski and so much fun to take into the backcountry. If you are looking for a lightweight setup with enough waist to float on powder, but that can also perform on variable terrain, THIS IS IT!
This ski is incredibly light, making the dawn skin track missions a breeze and keeping your legs fresh for maximizing your pow turns on the way down. With a 105mm waist, this ski floats in powder and feels like butter on corn.
The only time this ski starts to feel limited for me personally is fast resort skiing on hard-pack groomers or in chunky mashed potatoes. I start to feel a loss of stability, but I also prefer slower, playful skiing, so with a bit more focus, advanced and expert skiers will still be able to have a blast with this ski, no matter the surface.
This ski is touring-specific, so it will shine its brightest making quick turns and tracking fresh powder in the backcountry. If you are looking for an all-around fantastic touring ski, you won’t regret adding the Blizzard Zero G 105mm to your quiver!
- Lightweight touring ski
- Great flotation in powder
- Versatile in many backcountry conditions
- A bit chattery on hardpack resort skiing
- Not suitable for resort bindings
For too long, backcountry skiers have been stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to the their skis: To compromise on downhill performance for the sake of uphill efficiency, or to haul hundreds of extra grams underfoot to have a ski they feel confident on. The Zero G 105 solves this quandary by bringing Blizzard’s 77 years of experience building ripping skis to the backcountry touring stage. Powered by an ultra-lightweight paulownia wood core paired with an updated iteration of Blizzard’s proven Carbon Drive technology in version 3.0, the Zero G 105 feels just as at home on the skin track as it does attacking the fall line. So go ahead and earn those turns, and have some damn fun while you’re at it.
