The Curated Take
This board is a great board for the advanced to expert rider looking to progress their riding. I purchased this board after I watched a video review by Travis Rice explaining why it was the best board he's ever ridden and I wanted to advance my riding as much as possible. This board is great for all mountain and it can handle all conditions you would see. It is great for everyday resort riding on groomers. It also preforms very well where I like to ride in the trees, being able to turn in very tight spaces. It really excels in the deep snow and powder conditions. The big nose and whale tale let the board surf the deep snow. Because of this design I was also able to size down with this board which helps with control at top speeds. The board grips the snow well and you feel safe wherever you are on the mountain. I have been able to advance my riding and take on any terrain there is out there with the Orca. Highly recommend.

Is the 'long floaty nose' good for deep snow rides?
Yes. The extended length and width of the nose increase the surface area, allowing the board to float more effortlessly on top of powder. In deep snow, having a longer nose helps to prevent the board from sinking and getting buried, enabling the rider to maintain better control and stay on the surface. The added floatation provided by the long nose allows for smoother turns, improved maneuverability, and a more enjoyable ride in powder. The Orca's design with a longer and wider nose, combined with a narrower waist and slightly stiffer tail, creates a directional shape that excels in powder. It helps to distribute the rider's weight more evenly and keeps the board riding on top of the snow, maximizing floatation and minimizing the chances of "submarining" or getting stuck.Does the 'tight 7m trench gouging sidecut' help with control on firm snow?
Yes. The sidecut radius refers to the curvature of the edge from the nose to the tail of the snowboard. A tighter sidecut radius, such as the 7m radius on the Orca, means that the edge of the board will have a smaller turning radius. On firm snow conditions, a tighter sidecut radius can provide better edge hold and allow for quicker and more responsive turns. It helps the board engage with the snow more effectively, providing increased control and maneuverability. This can be particularly beneficial when carving or making precise turns on groomed runs or hardpack snow. The tight sidecut radius of the Orca, combined with its wider nose and narrower waist, gives it a unique blend of agility and stability on various types of snow. It allows riders to make tight and precise turns while maintaining good control and grip on firm or icy terrain. How does the 'Whale Tail Technology' improve my rides?
The Whale Tail design incorporates a wide, pronounced tail that helps to increase surface area and improve floatation in deep snow. This allows riders to stay on top of the powder and experience a more effortless and enjoyable ride in deep snow conditions. The Whale Tail technology also maintains a narrower waist and a shorter length compared to traditional powder boards. This combination makes the Orca more nimble and responsive, allowing riders to easily maneuver through trees, tight spaces, or variable terrain. The wide tail provides additional stability and control for riding at higher speeds. It helps distribute rider's weights more evenly, which reduces the chances of catching an edge, allowing for smoother and more confident descents.100%
