The Curated Take
Where do I start with this deck? First off I would have to say it's the best big mountain all mountain board I have ridden in 33 seasons! C2X is the best hybrid profile/bend on the market because it has more pop and power vs. traditional camrock. The shaping is the most twin of the Orca series so switch and jumping performance are on point. Magnetraction and their most camber dominant hybrid give you awesome groomer performance while Travis Rice's shaping and ever so slight volume shifting make it a dream in the pow. I did not downsize much with this board and that is how Travis ride's it too. It is not as volume shifted as the OG Orca and the 161 has been amazing! (6 foot, 220, size 11.5 boots). I have loved Lib and Gnu for years because of their USA production and green manufacturing. This board is a premier all mountain deck for an advanced intermediate to expert level rider. I found the flex to be in the 7 to 7.5ish realm on the 161 length and the base is uber fast but very thirsty out of the gates. I have ridden this board all over but mostly at Mammoth and I have not touched another board of mine since I bought it. I can't wait to get on the 2024 Apex version now! Hit me up if you have any questions on this or other decks!
- Handmade in the USA by snowboarders for decades.
- Best shaping (C2X profile, directional twinish and Magnetraction) for an all mountain board via the man himself, Travis Rice.
- High end construction with volcanic basalt and a ludicrously fast plaid speed base.
- Not the best rail or box board but it likes air.
- Not the most stable at speed on hardpack but full camber doesn't float like this.
- Price is appropriate but high.

Does the 'power kink tail' make switch tricks more powerful?
Yes, the "power kink tail" on the Lib Tech Golden Orca Snowboard contributes to making switch tricks more powerful. The power kink tail refers to a unique design feature where the tail of the snowboard has an upward bend or kick, providing added leverage and responsiveness for switch riding. The power kink tail enhances the board's performance in switch riding by offering increased pop and stability. The upward bend creates a more pronounced platform for initiating tricks, allowing for better control and a more powerful pop off jumps or features. It helps generate extra energy and snap when loading and releasing for aerial maneuvers in switch stance. Moreover, the power kink tail aids in landing switch tricks, as the added kick provides additional support and stability, enabling smoother and more controlled landings.Does the 'long floaty nose' help with deep snow?
Yes, the "long floaty nose" feature of the Lib Tech Golden Orca Snowboard is specifically designed to enhance performance in deep snow conditions. The extended and wider nose shape allows the board to stay on top of the snow, reducing the chance of nose-diving or getting buried. This design provides increased floatation, allowing the rider to glide effortlessly over deep powder. The long floaty nose displaces more snow, providing additional lift and keeping the board closer to the surface, resulting in better control and maneuverability. Whether you're exploring powder-filled backcountry or riding in deep snow at a resort, the long floaty nose of the Lib Tech Golden Orca Snowboard helps maximize your enjoyment by improving float and keeping you afloat in deep snow conditions. Will the 'Directional C2 contour' work well on all types of snow?
The "Directional C2 contour" in the Lib Tech Golden Orca Snowboard is versatile across different snow conditions. Its blend of camber and rocker provides stability and maneuverability. The camber underfoot offers edge hold and responsiveness on groomed runs, while the rocker in the nose and tail enhances floatation in powder and smooths out uneven terrain. While it excels in all-mountain riding, it performs well in a wide range of snow conditions. However, no snowboard can guarantee optimal performance in all situations. Factors like snow quality and slope steepness can affect performance. Overall, the Directional C2 contour of the Lib Tech Golden Orca Snowboard is designed for versatility and reliable performance in various snow conditions.100%
