This is a great board for advanced boarders. This board crushes it off-piste in the trees on powder days. Even on the spring groomer days the Snowtrooper is playful and fun to ride. The floatation on this board is amazing. The front of the board wants to lift even in deep snow which helps you power through the deeper powder and not get stuck in the flats. This season in Lake Tahoe we had the most snow in 53 years. With so many powder days I got to board some terrain that is rarely hit. One day this season I was hitting a fresh lap in a double black chute while it was almost white out snowing and when I came back for a second lap I could not even tell I had just been there. Being in the trees with all the snow falling around me was such a great feeling. I had no worries of getting stuck or not being able to handle the deep powder we were getting (1-3 ft).

- The durability of the topsheet could be slightly better. Starting to chip

Ideal for
- Great for the rider looking for some pow turns with an all mountain focus
- Good for doing butters due to flexibility.
- Great for beginner to intermediate riders looking for a do everything board.
Not ideal for
- Not super great edge hold for carving.
- I have big feet so definitely had to order a wide and it still wasn't big enough.
- Not stiff enough for advanced riders that want more performance out of their boards.

What is the value for the money versus other options?
Id say versus other options like the Jones Flagship this is a good comparison. Both have similar price points but based on the performance from the Snowtrooper you get what you pay for. Definitely no buyer's regret. For the edge hold, stability at high speed and the flotation I would expect a higher price.Answered by:

What drew me to the Snowtrooper was the stiffness and ability to handle challenging terrain while also being able to ride powder and the deep snow. In the Sierras the off-piste areas are the most fun so having a board that candle handle the terrain is important. When I occasionally take it on groomers I have no complaints, but the board wants to be ridden in the fun deep, face blasting powder.Answered by:

My favorite moment with this board was in the spring during a storm, when I found a section at Palisades where the lift was just opened on a powder day and the snow was so deep that it felt like surfing but on snow. The board handled so well, and I made it way farther through the powder than my friends. I was able to get fresh tracks all morning. Best board for all mountain riding

The thing I like about it is that if you get yourself into some powder conditions, you’re not gonna sink but it’s still swollen agile enough on Hard pack days you’re not struggling to turn it. The only thing I do not like about it is that the rocker in it does make it a little unstable on cat tracks. Also, as you can tell by the photo it’s been beat up quite a bit but all it takes is washing it and it looks brand new besides the chips. Also, the base is super durable. I smacked several rocks on it.

I cannot say enough great things about Kyle and how wonderful of an experience I had. I’m pretty hard headed, and went into the curation wanting a very specific board from GNU. Kyle talked me off that ledge (was far outside of my budget) and steered me in the right direction for something similar that fit my budget a lot better.
He was friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable without being arrogant, which is really hard to find in the skiing industry. I don’t like to feel pressured into buying something without doing my research, and Kyle didn’t make me feel pressured or rushed at any point. He was patient, kind, and made me feel like he truly wanted to find the best gear for me.

Skied a fair bit as a kid in the Northeast, then switched to snowboarding when I moved out west 15 years ago, and just getting back into skiing somewhat seriously as my kids are pretty self-sufficient and competent on most runs these days.
We usually rent, but after skiing about 20 days last year, I decided that buying new boots at a minimum was an absolute must. Some days were pure torture… But, I had no idea where to start and was instantly overwhelmed beginning my search on my own.
Enter Leo and Curated. Leo took the time to understand my situation, my skill level, my goals, my preferences, etc. In short order, after I sent back my boot measurements, I received a personalized video with several different options and tons of rationale for my expanded search for skis, bindings, and poles as well. I felt very comfortable that I had a good set of options to choose from for each piece of equipment - with an accompanying wealth of Leo’s deep knowledge and experience to consider as I pondered this large, potential purchase.
I decided to hold off at that point, and Leo made sure I knew he was available to text or chat live as needed - he is super responsive. No pressure at all. I came back to it later the next day, chatted a bit back and forth with Leo, and felt really confident about making the purchase. That’s really saying something given how little I knew about modern ski gear just a night or two earlier.
I highly recommend Leo and will be reaching out to him directly for any future purchases. I won’t hesitate to direct friends and family to him either, and have a hunch my wife will be looking for his help right around the time my new gear hits our doorstep.
