The Curated Take
I've been lucky enough to grow up with the Armada JJ as it established its presence in the new school world of skiing. From the first iterations, shaking up the new Rocker-Camber-Rocker segment of the industry, to the most current generations under a slightly new name, with the same great inspiration. The Armada ARV 116 JJ is a lightweight, slash-able, powder-machine that can be skied all over the mountain. Though high speed stability on edge is not what got this ski in the magazines, with a slightly wider stance and an aggressive edge initiation, a high intermediate or expert level skier could absolutely find a turn in this beautiful shape.
With smear tech 3d base beveling, the JJ has one of the most unique, deep and variable snow feelings that i've ever experienced. It's a surfing, bottomless-when-it-actually-isnt-bottomless type feelings and I love it.
The JJ was the brain child of JP Auclair (RIP, big buddy) and Julien Lange. They crafted this ski, in its original form, to perform in the deepest conditions with predictable ease and a stability that was unmatched in the industry. Thats still, to this day, where this ski performs its absolute best. When its time to call in sick to work, beg your parents for the day off of school, or cancel your appointments because the snow report was DEEP, The Armada ARV 116 JJ is the setup you're going to be grabbing.

The Armada ARV 116 JJ is a powder ski ready to help advanced skiers channel their inner pro and slash through powder fields, drop big cliffs, and handle big mountain lines in the resort or back country with confidence. A massive 116mm underfoot with nice tapered rocker in the tips and tails, the ARV 116 can handle the deepest snow around, and with camber through the center, it can also handle high speeds and precise skiing in technical terrain.

- Poplar and Ash Core – Armada uses lightweight Poplar wood with denser Ash wood l in to keep the skis strong enough to stomp landings and handle hard skiing with stability.
- AR75 Sidewalls and 2.5 Impact Edges – Armada uses full sidewalls through the center section of the ski and saves weight on the tips and tails, keeping the swing weight down and allowing the skis to turn and butter effortlessly. Armada also uses heat treated, oversized edges to keep them durable and able to handle landings, rails and boxes, and all forms of hard use.
