This ski is meant for deep powder and big wide open, surfy turns! You'll get a ton of flotation as well as really great absorption and dampness. It's a playful ski with some decent lightweight pop and a cushiony landing. Nothing but smiles in powder stashes! When skiing the hardpack back to the lift line the Lotus' hold an edge just fine. They are pretty light though so it starts to lose a bit of stability at speed on the hardpack. The lightness, however, comes in handy for touring. I put a pair of Shift bindings on mine and have not been disappointed in the touring capability of these skis in the slightest! Overall very impressed with these skis from DPS!
Ideal for
- DEEP powder flotation. Smooth, surfy feel
- Great option for a hybrid touring/resort set up
- playful and lightweight yet responsive
Not ideal for
- a fairly wide turn radius on these, not meant for quick darty turns
- not the best on groomer/ hardpack terrain
- its lightweight makes it not so suitable for speed on the downhill

DPS borrows a term from mountain biking and calls this ski a "mullet" due to its combination of a super wide shovel and tapered tail. The wide shovel gives you playful turn initiation while the pretty flat narrow tail helps with edge hold. Once into the steep, the narrow tail easily sinks a bit to take some leg burn out... I was very nervous about buying my first pair of skis as they can be quite expensive and you want to get them right, however, as soon as I found curated and was paired with Hayden all the nervousness turned into pure excitement.
