The Curated Take

I originally borrowed this jacket on my first summit trip up Mt. Rainier. After the trip, I immediately went home and bought it, and it has become a staple of my wardrobe. I use it for rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, and looking dang good when I walk to class in freezing Rexburg weather.

What really stood out to me originally was how light and low profile it was, without sacrificing features. I hate big, obnoxious coats and jackets. This jacket is form-fitting, without being tight. It has 3 zippers that are necessary for pocket snacks while skiing or mountaineering. The hood is helmet-compatible, which is necessary to keep those ears warm while mountaineering or backcountry skiing.

What has impressed me more than anything, though, is the durability. I think it’s pretty obvious to all of us that a mountaineering down jacket is going to be warm, or else it won’t ever sell. What you wouldn’t expect is its ability to withstand EVERYTHING. I literally crawled through tiny holes in a cave for 6 hours, and I came out with a tiny nick on the jacket. I expected it to be shredded afterward. Next to that, the tree skiing I do and the climbing I love don’t do more than a scratch to the jacket.

If you want a light jacket that will keep you warm on the mountain or around town yet will hold up with any beating you give it, you NEED to try out the Rab Microlight.

Ideal for
  • Staying super light and super warm at the same time
  • Looking great on the mountain
  • Lasting an eternity through rough conditions. I literally crawled through an extremely tight cave for 6 hours and came out with hardly any damage.
Not ideal for
  • This is not meant to replace a shell. While it's treated to not soak up water, it's not waterproof

  • YKK® zipped hand pockets and large zipped chest pocket: provide ample storage space for your essentials.
  • Internally elasticated cuffs and drawcord adjustable hem: ensure a snug fit while keeping out drafts.

Great Jacket!

Posted on Dec 27, 2023
This is a really great jacket, I have many puffers and this by far my favorite. Keeps you warm and dry. Goes great under a rain shell even though it’s not needed unless it is heavily raining.

Helpful to talk to an expert when making a big purchase
5 /5
I found Curated after doing some of my own research on snowboarding gear. I'd been looking at purchasing my own board for a while, but having Schuyler to talk to in real time while shopping was super helpful and made the process a lot less stressful. Schuyler is knowledgable and answered all my questions almost immediately after I messaged him. Love the way Curated works, the fact that they price match while still providing the help, and would definitely recommend it and Schuyler. Excited about my new gear!

First Time Buying Skis - Great Experience
5 /5
I’ve been skiing for several years, but have never owned my own gear because I was overwhelmed by the amount of options. Kyle was very helpful though and asked questions to help dial in one or two recommendations that I could then pick from. He also further explained each recommendation in a video and was attentive to my questions. All in all a great experience, highly recommend!

I'm new to snowboarding and was not sure where to start when it came to buying new gear. Ryan was not only knowledgeable but also very mindful of choosing items within my specified price range while keeping each pick very quality. Additionally, he included a description of each product he picked for me, which was very helpful in deciding what to purchase since I'm not familiar with all the different brands and materials. This made such a confusing and time-consuming process much easier. He was also very communicative and kept me updated throughout every step of the curation process... literally above and beyond! Such a chill and great person all around. Thanks again Ryan :)
