The Curated Take

These Flylow Baker Bibs are comfortable, durable and ready for anything you can throw at them! The bib style is becoming popular for good reason, packed with numerous useful pockets and designed perfectly for any skier looking to dabble out of bounds. Overall, these bibs are excellent in all weather, they are comfortable, and the waterproofing remains for years. It is not the lightest bib on the market and this is due to its 3 layer construction but makes up for its weight in other aspects. For an avid backcountry skier that expects a bit of rowdy weather these bibs are as good as it gets!

Product details

The Flylow Baker Bib Pants are a versatile, three-layer pair of bib pants that provide excellent waterproofing, breathability, and storage. These pants are for skiers who want the functionality of a bib, but also want a little more room for comfort when it comes to the resort and hitting the apres scene. Bib pants go beyond just snow pants by adding built-in suspenders and higher waist material to keep the pants in place, keeping snow out better than normal pants would.

Key Features:

  • DWR Coating (Durable Water Repellant) – DWR Coating is a chemical treatment for the outer surface of the jacket that helps repel water at the surface level.
  • 3-Layer Fabric - The baker bibs are made of a material that is constructed with three layers: durable surface fabric, a waterproof membrane, and a soft inner fabric that goes against the body.
  • 20k/20k Inner Membrane – The inner membrane layer features 20k waterproofing and 20k windproofing which keeps all the water out, but allows sweat vapor to escape.
  • Durable Cuff Reinforcement – A thicker fabric is added to the pant cuffs to protect from rips around the boot areas.
  • Articulated Knees – The Baker bibs were designed to allow for freedom of movement. Articulated knees allow for proper mobility in the knee areas.

This is far and away my favorite shell-style ski bib.

I had gone between insulated inbounts pants and breathable touring pants, but the Baker Bib from Flylow checks all of my boxes. The burly 20k fabric and tough knee and cuff inserts make this a no brainer for inbounds skiing. But the ample venting (inseam and outer knee) make it a great choice for ski touring as well.

The thoughtful pocket layout make stashing phone, keys and wallet intuitive. and the looser fit makes it easy to layer under the bibs on chilly days (I fell between sizes and chose to size up--very glad I did).

After a season of true 50/50 inbounds and touring use, I can confidently say that the Baker Bib is one that I'll continue to use and abuse. It's my one pair that I grab regardless of where I'm headed--a day ripping steep and bootpacking on the hill, or a weekend hut trip.

  • A great do-it-all bib for both inbounds and backcountry skiing. Generous vents and surprisingly breathable for such burly fabric.
  • The inserts at the knees and boot cuffs make this a pant that can take a beating. Definitely the most bomb-proof pant I've used.
  • Well thought out pockets on both the lowers and the chest portion of the pant. Some touring-specific features like a beacon pocket and drop seat.
  • When in doubt, definitely size up (can be a bit snug in the seat)
