The Burton Hometown Hero Splitboard has delivered many great experiences for me in the backcountry. This board was my very first splitboard purchase and I spent a good chunk of time researching the best options for me. Overall it's been a ton of fun charging through the trees and deeper powder. The lightweight feel of this splitboard has been confidence inspiring while skinning uphill since its not difficult to maneuver. I use Spark's splitboard bindings and the combo of both has been perfect for me. The only real downside I found with this board traversing downhill in shaded trees that were extremely icy, the grip wasn't the best and I feel a board with magne-traction would've delivered a bit better edge hold. Overall I give the Hometown Hero 8.5/10 rating and I can't wait to have more touring days with it next season.
Ideal for
- The Hometown Hero is the split version of Burton's iconic freeride snowboard. This splitboard is meant for touring the backcountry, skinning up and riding down.
- Incredible for off-piste snowboarding and camber dominant for more responsiveness while carving.
- Riders looking for a lightweight package to take into the backcountry.
Not ideal for
- The grip on hardpack wasn't the best with this splitboard.
- This splitboard will not pair with Union Explorer bindings.

Ideal for
- A fantastic hard charging board that can handle the backs and deep pow but can cruise the groomers as well.
- Hiking to a favorite secret spot
- Long hard carving turns to lay down some beautiful "S" turns
Not ideal for
- It's a split board, not the regular hometown hero
- Get the split board binding (burton hitchhiker) not the regular bindings.
- Pack boots if the plan is to hike.

Frankie is A1, top notch and his ratings and reviews speaks for itself. I went to 3 different ski shops in my area and I was sized wrong, told certain brands were high quality when they weren’t, would have been paying to much and just put on a bad path overall. I’m glad I stumbled upon Curated. I threw so many questions at Frankie and he welcomed and answered them all. I needed a new board, boots and bindings and I got a great deal. I was very nervous about buying my first pair of skis as they can be quite expensive and you want to get them right, however, as soon as I found curated and was paired with Hayden all the nervousness turned into pure excitement. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable about snowboarding in the west coast. Understands types of terrains and the type of board suited for the type of riding I like.
