The Mind Expander is an alternative all-mountain board that wants to slash every terrain feature in sight. Surf shapers Chris Christenson and Jeremy Jones designed the Mind Expander for the creative rider who draws lines blending freestyle, freeride, and surf styles. The blunted nose, full-size tail, tight sidecut, and 3D Contour Base 3.0 offer the nimble maneuverability of a directional board matched with the all-mountain performance of a directional twin. The Mind Expander features a Surf Camber profile that has a camber underfoot for better edge hold in variable conditions. To keep the playful board feel, the Mind Expander’s Bamboo Surf Core has V-core profiling that gives the board a softer flex between the feet for easy turn initiation and a stiffer flex in the tips so you won’t fold the nose. The Mind Expander is also built with Basalt Power Stringers for edge response, Rounded Recycled ABS Sidewalls for top sheet durability, and a super fast Sintered 8000 base.

Do you love chasing powder, but need a board that charges with precision and can make you smile in any conditions? Take a serious look at the Jones Mind Expander. The ME was my daily driver last season, freeriding mostly in Colorado, plus a Tahoe-to-Bachelor road trip and a few days in the Tetons. I can't wait to strap in... Read more

  • Exceptional glide and speed on-piste and in powder. Reap the benefits of high-end design and materials
Not ideal for
  • Tapered, directional shape limits performance when riding switch in deeper, softer snow, Switch pow landings are doable, but takes a little forethought

This is a different board compared to previous seasons. From 2022, it was updated. This cool snowboard has become a staple board in my arsenal. It was previously a rocker snowboard, which surprised me even then. That model had a surf rocker camber that started in front of the front binding and extended all the way to the tail. On... Old School Riders Dream Sled

Originally posted at www.jonessnowboards.com on Dec 2, 2024
This board rides exactly as described. Do not buy this board if you bomb groomers and ride a wider stance and do not buy this board if you like to carve as this board is a "slarve" board on hard pack. Obviously this is not a freestyle/freeride board. It prefers to cruise the side hits and slash crud Bob Marley style instead of old school NOFX. Watch some old videos of Craig Kelly. If that's your style of riding then get this board because I'm 55 and this is the closest thing to the magic boards of old and very close to the feel of the Mike Estes pro model Barfoot from the early 90s. This was the best all around snowboard I have ever ridden from deep pow to bumps to steep trees. I rode it for a couple of seasons at A Basin and the surrounding backcountry in the early 90s. The Mind Expander is so close to the vibe of that board and those times. It's very nimble in trees and bumps and on steeps but comes alive in pow. It loves to feel a turn through the entire rail from initiation to out the tail. And if your a surfer it delivers that classic "finishing" feel of throwing some tail.

I have been out just

I have been out just once with my new Mind Expander, on a 50F spring day. The snow was soft and the board is very "surfy". Definitely a new way of riding and a welcome change. The name of the board says it all. Stay away from shaded spots - it doesn't bite well on ice.

Kat was so helpful!
5 /5
Kat was so patient with all my questions and truly helped me figure out what gear would work best for me! She recommended me a good couple of boards and went into detail on each one and what the different features were and how they’d benefit me. As someone who buys for looks and pretty colors, I’m glad I had help to be confident in my purchase for my ride style and experience level!

As someone buying skis for the first time, but having skied for a few years Leo was incredibly helpful! He took into account what I prioritized but also explained why a suggestion might be out of my initial request. For example, he got ahead of my question on why bindings are expensive and why it is important to not only focus on the skis but the bindings as well.

He has extensive knowledge, and was really able to find the perfect setup for me and my riding style as well as my bank account. Also was honest and kept me from making a purchase that I might regret. We talked for at least an hour and the whole time he was very helpful. All in all he really knows his stuff when it comes to getting you into the perfect set up. I highly recommend him. Thanks again Frankie.

Tyler was awesome!

I’ve been using a board from 2005 for the last 4 or so years now. Finally decided it was time to upgrade but had no idea of what to upgrade to. He asked what I was looking for, and ended up narrowing it down to exactly what I need/want, to further my skills. He’s very knowledgeable and approachable, and overall very friendly. Was nice talking to Tyler and I’m super stoked to get up on the mountain.
