I chose the JPX 923 Tour iron because it was slightly easier to hit compared to the 221 while still holding true to the traditional Mizuno feel.

I chose this product because I had originally been using the JPX 919 Hot Metal Pro Irons, right around when I started taking the game seriously. Overtime I improved my skill and my goal was always to get a smaller, thinner, compact iron head. I tested out a bunch and this was the winning choice. For a slightly less forgiving iron it definitely still is forgiving and the feel is beyond comfortable.

I was sitting in the trees on a par 4 blocked out by a branch and needed to hit a low cut around a tree trunk and still keep it low enough to not clip the branch. With the 923 tour irons, I was able to work the ball under the branch and around the tree with my 6 iron to put the ball safely on the green with a opportunity to putt for birdie.

I have been playing the JPX Tour 923s for less than a year now and have hit some shots that surprise me. One of the best shots I hit came at the district qualifier where I had to a hit a high snapping push draw with OB right and a tree directly in front of me to get near the green. Not only did I pull it off, the soft feel of the iron and its workability allowed me to get within 15ft of the whole. With a lie so tight, my old thicker soled irons would've bounced right into the ball.

I have tested other irons from other brands and to this day, I still can't find an iron that is cost effective with the performance and feel of Mizuno. I tested mainly against the T100s and the Mizuno's were cheaper and I still believe more forgiving, not to mention they have such a sleek design to them.

I love the feel on the Mizuno JPX 923 Tour irons, they have the workability and feel of blades with just a bit of forgiveness for the type of player that used to be a scratch or plus handicap but just doesn't get to play the same amount anymore.

I don't know where to start with these irons. Truly to this day I can't find myself ever hitting a different brand of irons besides Mizuno. The JPX line has been my favorite since I've started taking golf seriously with lessons and playing weekly. From the Hot Metal Pros I started with to JPX 923 Tours I am playing now, they have been nothing short of pure. These JPX 923 Tours are as blade as one can get without all the cons of having a blade. I match them up with friends that play the CBs and MBs and size difference is not much, but the ease of hitting them is significant.

The Mizuno JPX 923 Tour irons are and advanced iron made for a low handicapper. Because of the smaller club head, distance and forgiveness are found in less amounts in this iron than other options. This means that mishits outside of center strikes may not perform well. However, center face swings will be very consistent and straight, plus the workability allows you to hit it as straight as you want.

These irons are going to be geared more toward the experienced player. This means that they will not have as much forgiveness built into the club, and this club design will not promote hitting straighter shots either. There are other clubs within the JPX923 line that would be much more forgiving and help create straighter shots for the average player.

It sacrifices some distance and forgiveness in order to prioritize feel, feedback, workability, and launch. An iron with similar feel would be the Taylormade P7MC, Callaway Apex Pro, or Srixon ZX7 iron sets. The forged construction head makes the feel and responsiveness off center strikes incredibly reliable and consistent.

Mizuno by far have the nicest feeling and one of the best forging processes in the industry. Their clubs look great at address which inspire confidence and their irons provide very good feedback to the user. The perimeter weighting of the clubs with the forging process allow for off center hits to not be punishing to the user.

The feel of a Mizuno iron is one that is unmatched by many of the leading iron makers in the world of golf today. This is because of the 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel that is the material for this iron. This material gives a clear source of contact on the face of the club, while still providing the forgiveness to minimize the effect of a mishit. The bottom line is they are a great feeling club.
