Don't be scared
Originally posted at www.cobragolf.com on Dec 5, 2024I was initially concerned that the longer length shafts of the Snakebite One Length making it hard to make close shots or hard to hit the ball clean. I thought the longer shaft length would make it too easy to overshoot the green and send your ball to the next tee box. I was very wrong.
So easy to make close shots and so easy to hit. Using a 56 degree from 30 yards away was my first test. It landed 2 feet from the pin and had hardly any forward roll after landing. I was able to do this over and over from varying distances. Even the occasionally "skulling" the ball seemed to be reduced, taking away my fear of thinning the ball across the green.
Testing it with a launch monitor, I was able to easily get over 10,000 RPM backspin rates. Because of the longer length shafts as compared to a variable length, traditional wedge, your club speed goes up (increasing spin) while the loft helps control the distance. It was weird at first to swing a sand wedge like a 7 iron but these wedges (including the irons and hybrid One Length) act like its you are on cruise control. Take your regular 7 iron swing and the clubs take care of the rest.
After seeing the results first hand, i doubt I'd ever go back to a traditional wedge.

Great wedge
