The Callaway Great Big Bertha Single Iron is a game-changer in the world of golf clubs. This ultra-premium multi-piece titanium design combines driver-like power with the precision of an iron, providing effortless distance and control. The lightweight power from a forged titanium face and CP4 titanium body, speed and launch from the tungsten speed cartridge, A.I.-designed forged titanium face for increased consistency, and patented urethane microspheres for exceptional feel make this iron stand out from the rest.
Key Features:
- Lightweight Power: The Great Big Bertha iron features a thin titanium face that is also the lightest we've ever used in an iron. The Commercially Pure Grade 4 (CP4) Titanium body flexes more at impact than traditional steel to transfer more energy to the ball.
- Speed and Launch: The Tungsten Speed Cartridge provides up to 145g of high-density tungsten for increased speed and launch by giving us the deepest center of gravity we've ever achieved in an iron.
- A.I.-Designed Forged Titanium Face: Our industry-leading A.I. technologies optimize performance by increasing speed and improving spin consistency.
- Patented Urethane Microspheres: These enhance sound while delivering a softer feel, allowing for more ball speed without sacrificing comfort or control.
- Multi-Material Construction: By combining materials typically reserved for drivers with up to 96g of discretionary weight precisely repositioned, we have reached new levels of forgiveness, overall performance, and distance.

My Big Mistake
Originally posted at www.callawaygolf.com on Sep 11, 2023Spent $4,500 on the full set after reading and watching the few existing reviews.
I bought into the marketing. Big Mistake. Nothing wrong with Callaway or their product, this is on me.
My experience with these irons is necessarily skewed by comparison to my previous iron set. (Which I am now using, while these sit in my basement). I'm a 6.8 handicap with primary weakness being iron play. I previously played Callway Rogue X, which is an ultra-game improvement max-foregiveness, max-distance iron.
When I put the Great Big Bertha Irons into play I first noticed I really preferred their look at address. Slightly less chunky and offset than the Rogue X. They are a VERY attractive club. Despite the technology, they were immediately one club shorter than my Rogue X due to the more traditional lofts and shorter shafts. This is mostly a non-issue except for me it created a 20-25 gap around 185 yards in my set. I can work around that.
The Great Big Bertha Irons are absolutely BUTTERY on center contact due to the forged construction and premium materials. They fly high and incredibly straight. I won't say you can't work them. But it is harder. They want to fly straight. They also fly higher and land softer. For example from 155 yards my Rogue X 7 iron will come in lower trajectory and land hotter than my Great Big Bertha 6 iron. I had a few really nice 5 iron shots from 170-175 that flew high and landed on a dime.
The problem with Great Big Bertha Irons, again this is FOR ME, and vs the Rogue X, was forgiveness on off-center hits. They were extremely good on low face hits, but much much worse than Rogue X on heal and toe strikes. 1/4 inch off they are fine, but their comes a point, and it must be a point I hit often, that the Great Big Bertha iron gives that tuning fork feedback and the ball just goes no where.
On the plus side the feedback was helpful in motivating me to improve my swing and I did start hitting the irons better after giving them a solid 2 month trial run. But in the end the variance in distance between the absolute pure shots, which would go about 5 yards less than my Rogue X Irons, and the mishits which might go 20 yards shorter, forced me to return to my old set which had far less distance dispersion.
I completed a test playing the same course with both irons and I haven't been more excited about my game in a long time. Too bad it is because I was so happy about how I was hitting my old 2018 Rogue X irons.
I understand that this was my mistake. I ordered a custom set (grips only thing custom) and I kept them over 60 days, well past the return dates. I don't qualify for a refund or credit return nor should I. The thing that bothers me is the HUGE price decrease from $449/club to $249/club within months after my purchase. THAT is an absolute killer. I wasn't going to sell them anyway, I wouldn't have gotten value, and now obviously I'll never get value. I just feel like I was kind of the "last sucker" to pay full price for a failed product.
I still remain a loyal Callaway player and believe in their technology.

Shockingly Impressed
Originally posted at www.callawaygolf.com on Aug 9, 2023Demo’d a 7 iron while shopping at Roger Dunn’s in Fresno, I was expecting blow me away experience and I will say it was so nice and pure. Coming from someone who’s playing P7MB’s I’m seriously debating about switching back and getting me a set cause once they are gone, you really can’t get them custom made for your specs from the factory. Anyways I was hitting so clean and effortless, the sound is so pure.

Incredibly Helpful

I'm a newbie, and buying equipment can be confusing to say the least. I had no idea what Flex or shaft or angle I needed. Beau talked with me and asked me several questions to get me a GREAT set put together. I'm really excited to get back in to playing and would likely have bought something I would have regretted later if Beau hadn't helped me.

Caley was perfect
5 /5
Caley spent the right time with me to help me find the clubs I needed. We went through several sets of suggestion's, never tried to up sell me on what I didn’t need, but we ended up buying a set that was perfect for me, although it was above may budget. He DID NOT pressure me for this up tick in product…

Ryan was very helpful and a subject matter expert on all things golf clubs. He was not overbearing and constantly messaging like how others probably would. Just a simple check in to see if I was ready. After giving accurate information to him for me I’m very excited to try these new clubs out. Highly recommended to have Ryan as your advisor, newbie or experienced golfer, this guy knows I’m his stuff and is very respectful
