Who would love these
The Dynafit Rotations are a robust tech/backcountry binding for hard-charging skiers who are ok sacrificing weight savings in order to ensure a more aggressive downhill performance, and also want a tech binding that can occasionally be used in the resort.
Why I recommend these
Expert verdict
The Dynafit ST Rotation 10 are full-on tech/touring bindings for backcountry riders, but with the same DIN certification and releasability of a downhill-oriented binding, making them ideal for backcountry skiers wanting an uphill-friendly binding that can occasionally be used in the resort. The Rotation features a pivoting toe-piece, allowing for better releasability in the event of a fall: but it also means more elasticity, so I can charge harder and not worry about the binding pre-releasing. The patented Bayonet Lock in the heel also makes for crazy strong power transfer, so I can drive the ski harder and not worry about the pressure on the heel piece, all while getting better control over my skis. These definitely aren't the lightest touring binding available, so weight-conscious backcountry skiers should look elsewhere, and heavier, more aggressive skiers should bump up to the Rotation 14 for added security. But for backcountry tourers who are more focused on ripping on the descent than the ascent, the Rotation is a formidable and impressive tech binding that can be skied hard!
