Why I recommend these
Expert verdict
The Srixon ZX5 MK II Irons are a fantastic choice for players who want a blend of forgiveness, distance, and feel. These irons have a sleek look and a forged feel that makes every shot satisfying. The MainFrame technology ensures you get maximum flex at impact, boosting your ball speed. Plus, the progressive grooves help you control spin, whether you're hitting long or short shots. The patented VT Sole really assists in getting the club through the turf and not digging. While they might not be the best for high handicappers or those seeking a blade-style iron, they offer a great balance for those transitioning to a more refined set without losing forgiveness.

Srixon ZX5 MKII Iron
ZX5 Mk II is the perfect union of razor-sharp looks, power, and playability—combining a premium forged feel, advanced ball speed, and distance technology.
MAINFRAME
MainFrame is a variable thickness pattern of grooves, channels, and cavities carefully milled into the backside of the Iron face that maximizes flex at impact.
PLAYERS DISTANCE IRON SHAPES
A slightly wider sole with moderate blade length and offset help ZX5 Mk II cavity back Irons give attuned golfers enhanced distance, forgiveness, and workability while displaying a clean look at address.
PROGRESSIVE GROOVES
The 3i–7i feature wide grooves, ideal for longer shots in all conditions. The 8i–AW have deeper, closer set grooves which cut through grass and debris to enhance spin on approach shots. Laser milling between each groove, on every loft, enhances friction in all conditions.
TOUR V.T. SOLE
Tour V.T. Sole takes turf interaction to a whole new level of detail with a proprietary combination of sole widths, bounce angles, and notches that encourages a smooth glide through fairway, rough and sand to strike the ball solidly without losing speed.

- Desirable look at address
- Distance and workability allows this club to be the best player's distance iron of 2023
- There is not a more accurate club on the market
- Ranks in the middle of the pack in terms of forgiveness, but all other aspects of this iron make up for it
- Best of both forgiveness and feel
- Top line looks good over the ball
- Quality feel
- Isn't a pure blade
- Doesn't offer the forgiveness a beginner needs
- Isn't going to drastically increase distance
- Distance in all clubs and longer irons off the tee
- Workable launch angles
- Large sweet spot
- High handicappers may look for ZX4
- Low handicappers may look for ZX7
