Mizuno has created a fairway wood that performs very well with all of its technology working together to bring distance and forgiveness. The visible technology of the carbon crown is stunning. The sole shows the very modern CoreTech and the rear sole weight is thoughtfully accented with a blue ring. Beyond aesthetics the technology in this club makes it one of the most stable fairway woods available. The sound is muted due to the carbon while being firm and not tinny.
While not as big a club head as other fairway woods it plays like a larger more forgiving one. At impact the feeling is solid, stable, and powerful. The face isn't bouncy and that promotes the strong impact feel. This seemed to launch very high while the ball still proceeds out far for distance. Some players may want a lower trajectory depending on their swings or playing environments. Yet this club is going to appeal to a large portion of amateur golfers looking for confidently consistent distance.

This club is gorgeous. It comes with glossy black carbon crown frames. The clubhead is compact, but not too small. The forgiveness of this club is absolutely incredible, making even your mishits attractive. This wood is a high launching club with a straight bias and mid-to-low spin. The fully adjustable hosel is a nice touch for added customization.

The Mizuno ST-Z 230 fairway wood is a perfect option for low to high-handicap players looking for a versatile option that blends forgiveness and workability. There was very little the ST-Z 230 fairway wood couldn't do during my testing. It displayed elements of forgiveness, workability, distance, and feel. The club really allows you to play any type of shot off the tee or from the fairway or rough. The CORTECH Chamber produces higher ball speeds and a low spin ball flight combined with a rear weighting system produces a consistent launch. Ultimately, the overall performance of the ST-Z 230 will win over a lot of players who are looking to update their fairway wood.Answered by:

Sara recommended 3 choices for woods and irons. I settled on the TRS2 3W and TRS2 Hybrid with specific shafts she also recommended and the Golf Pride Tour Wrap G2 grips I preferred. I selected the Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal Pro Irons and got the 4-PW and added the G, L and S wedges with the shafts Sara recommended and the same grips I preferred. This combo is the best I have ever hit providing me with great satisfaction almost each time I hit the ball as I still, occasionally, hit a bad shot but that’s on me and not the club selection. Sara really was spot on with her selection of clubs for me and I also was recommended the Scotty Cameron Phantom putter which is the best putter I have ever had. Thanks again Sara! Really appreciate your knowledge and help!
