The Stump Ape is perfect for big-footed riders who love freeriding and powder. If you wear size 11+ boots and enjoy all-mountain adventures, this board is for you.

Why I recommend these

Wide, short design
Great powder float
Agile in tight spots
Stable at high speeds

Expert verdict

The Lib Tech Stump Ape Snowboard is a game-changer for big-footed riders who crave agility and stability. Its wide, short design offers incredible float in powder and nimbleness in tight spots. I love how it handles steep terrains and dense forests with ease. The lightweight HP construction makes it a breeze on chair rides, and the stability at high speeds is unmatched. However, it's not the best for park tricks, but if you're into freeriding and powder, this board is a dream. Plus, it's handmade in Washington, ensuring top-notch quality.

The Lib Tech Stump Ape is a wide snowboard designed for big riders who want to shred any terrain and condition. It has a flat-to-rocker profile that gives it stability, pop, and float. It also has a directional twin shape that allows you to ride switch or set back the stance for deeper powder. The Stump Ape has a medium-stiff... Read more

In the grand scheme of larger people, I am below average at 6'0", 190 lbs. with size 10.5 feet. But let me tell you, this board is a game-changer in the powder. The Stump Ape's volume-shifted dimensions work magic by maximizing surface area into a smaller length, making it a nimble powerhouse for conquering powder. I recently tried it... Read more

No Fatigue In Pow!?

Originally posted at www.lib-tech.com on Apr 4, 2024
This board is awesome. Ive ridden it for like 4 years in WA on Pow Days. I call it the Salmon bc its so good in tight trees. The nose will NOT dive in Pow. Riding on this board even on 14" days is as easy as standing on the sidewalk. The volume shift is amazing and my back leg never tires. Drop a cliff into pow? This think will stay afloat even the deepest days. I used to land drops and have to be so precise to not dive too deep, but this thing just shoots out the snow like flying fish. Highly recommend if you riding pow especially if you are new to riding pow. Only negative is its hard to ride on non pow days. So wide its hard to edge on a groomer.

If Your Idea of Play Includes Powder, Trees, & Stability - Then it Doesn't Get More Playful than the Stump Ape

Originally posted at www.lib-tech.com on Mar 7, 2024
Incredibly agile, rock-solid even at warp speeds, glides effortlessly like a boat, and no burning sensation in the rear leg. The Stump Ape is a slashing sensation. You can unleash any powder slash you can imagine—whether it's surf-style with freed-up fins, 90-degree-plus front sides, or backside maneuvers. Need a powerful exit from straight-lining a chute? Yep, the Stump Ape has got you covered all day long.

Kat was so helpful!
5 /5
Kat was so patient with all my questions and truly helped me figure out what gear would work best for me! She recommended me a good couple of boards and went into detail on each one and what the different features were and how they’d benefit me. As someone who buys for looks and pretty colors, I’m glad I had help to be confident in my purchase for my ride style and experience level!

As someone buying skis for the first time, but having skied for a few years Leo was incredibly helpful! He took into account what I prioritized but also explained why a suggestion might be out of my initial request. For example, he got ahead of my question on why bindings are expensive and why it is important to not only focus on the skis but the bindings as well.

Tyler was awesome!
5 /5
I’ve been using a board from 2005 for the last 4 or so years now. Finally decided it was time to upgrade but had no idea of what to upgrade to. He asked what I was looking for, and ended up narrowing it down to exactly what I need/want, to further my skills. He’s very knowledgeable and approachable, and overall very friendly. Was nice talking to Tyler and I’m super stoked to get up on the mountain.
